Goddamn. All these newbies trying to place reason to update. They'll regret it, if they're on 3.00.
I think many people feel burnt after the PS4 situation. It's been almost a year since the hype around a 3.55 exploit started, with plenty of devs telling people not to update, to buy a spare PS4 Pro and put it in the closet, loads of devs showing off their exploits and telling people 'just wait, it'll be released soon!" and nothing appearing. In the meantime, people missed out on good games. And y'know, we're all gamers first.Goddamn. All these newbies trying to place reason to update. They'll regret it, if they're on 3.00.
who cares? its their choice. some people would rather play online than wait for homebrew...if it ever gets released in the near futureGoddamn. All these newbies trying to place reason to update. They'll regret it, if they're on 3.00.
Don't be condescending. It's unbecoming. And dickish.

Things were more clear cut in the past. A developer would find an exploit, give people the heads-up to not update, then release. People like Yifan_lu and Smealum are kings among men. But there's been an awful lot of hot air from other devs who have just lead people on. Of course nobody is entitled to an exploit being made public, but I think people are jaded by the false promises.
well, by comparing the source code of 3.0.1 and 3.0.2, dev might find an exploit for 3.0.1, if they patched an exploit ofcI wonder what exploit they patched
^Exactly this. I bought a 1.76 ps4 and it sat in a box for over a year, waiting for something worthwhile to be released. I finally said "screw this", sold it. and used the money to buy a Pro
can people please stop comparing this to the Wii U or the PS3 or whatever
it's a different console completely, and people are actually interested in it unlike the Wii U (in comparison with the initial boom)
personally im just waiting for a Pokemon game to show up on the switch and the scene will just explode, especially if it's anything like the 3ds
Pokemon -> profit
What make you think this won't be another PS3 3.51 situation where the only exploits exist on older firmware?

I think that's comparing apples to oranges. The PS3 had a complete key compromise, and it didn't have much in ways of preventing downgrades. There isn't as much incentive to investigate exploits given that; it's not hard to find a PS3 that you can either exploit outright or downgrade with hardware.
I think a better comparison is the Xbox 360, which had efuses to prevent downgrades. After the jtag exploit was fixed, and efuses burned, they resorted to glitching the hardware to exploit it.
I personally don't see anything that compels me to stay on 3.0.1 when the Wii U homebrew offers no less than what the Switch will offer. Aside from playing Switch "backups", homebrew will be the same as that the Wii U offers.
Tbh, this is essentially the reason we had the whole a9lh master race sheit XDThen don't, nobody is forcing you to. You're allowed to have an opinion that differs from mine and the rest of the crew that decided not to update. Our opinions don't have to align.
Let people do what they want to do with their console, and stop trying to convince them to do otherwise.
A bit different, though. In the early days of A9LH, it was a matter of whether you wanted the latest and best hack, at the risk of bricking, which turned off the more conservative crowd, which was following the proverbial "Why fix something that isn't broken?" This update or not update above 3.00 question, is almost like religion. Do you believe in future homebrew and want to deprive yourself of online and new games while waiting for the hack to happen, or you're a non-believer who wants to live in the present, play online the latest games, and f**k the after-life of homebrew?Tbh, this is essentially the reason we had the whole a9lh master race sheit XD
