I mean, they're not stored as MP3s, are they? What else would they be?:P Even if they were somehow .bin files, or something else, they can be decrypted and edited.
I think he meant not an image but just a color

OHH! I'm sorry haha! the "#XXXX" in the bottom-right corner of a post. It shows which number message your post was in the thread

Well I would assume it would just use the system's "draw" function and draw a certain colour box for the background, or something to that effect. I know it's not MP3 files hehehe :)

Lol, i just accidentaly hit "Yes" on the update question. Immediately killed the console with the power button. When booting up again it had 3.0.1.

Got my new one at 1.0, created user Hax with the evil face of Bowser. Charging before I put it in a drawer or something. I got the red and blue joycons and didn't expect them to look that cool. I really like the red one.

I think this can brick the console.
I killed it instant after pressing Yes and their was no "don't turn off the system" message.
Really sucks that it updated that fast, or maybe behind the scenes during the bootup. :/

But hey, i wanted to update the game anyways and now i can play all the cool new games and online. I really pity all of u poor people who are waiting till entirety.

Hahaha, jk. Sucks but whatever^^

I kept my PS4 on 3.55 for the longest time waiting for an exploit that never appeared. Missed FF15, Last Guardian, Horizon Zero Dawn, WipEout... the best thing I did was update that thing and actually use it for games.

Welp, just updated mine a few days ago... Didn't expect such a big exploit so early...

Going to find a new switch on Craigslist, use the new joy cons / extra dock and stashaway the unit... It'll be worth it it someday.

Unless your trying to create a program and your a computer programer trying to make progress, I really do not understand the number of people going out and spending hundreds of dollars on a console that they already have to buy something with a lower firmware version that has had nothing created for it yet. Nothing has been ported to the switch, their are no emulators as of yet, no homebrew scene, and apart from that somewhere down the track a new more powerful switch model is almost gauranteed to appear, yet for some reason their seem to be people, that for no other reason than stupidity with already one nintendo switch going and buying a second....... :P? I would love to be enlightened if their is some other motive as to why, because I personally at the moment see nothing useful unless you personally are going to create the homebrew scene of the switch. Apart from all this, the newer firmwares(as the switch is so new) will most likely be required for future games and improve stability of the console itself. I really do mean I would love to be enlightened, because I have seen multiple comments of people saying they are off to get another switch, so by all means an explanation as to why would be much appreciated, or what you can currently do with it when you get it? Because to me at the moment stupidity and ignorance appear to be key factors, aswell as people that enjoy binning money.

the sm exploit is massive and is patched at 3.0.1, also there's always the possibility that no other FW from this point on will get an exploit such as this

there is never a guarantee of a future exploit, so most of us are playing it safe

i thing you just dosn't understand how a scene forms.
While you are right on some of your points, you don't understand anything about what you are talking.

For example. I'm staying on 3.0.0 since 3.0.1 doesn't have any benefit for me and i can currently play all the games i want. Including Mario + Rabbids. If a launcher would be released and a possibility to create homebrews, i would be one of the first trying to create a homebrew. Regardless if its a good one or a simple hello world. I'm a developer for that exact reason. I want to develop things, even if i have to wait

Because this is a limited time deal. Soon 3.0.1+ version systems will be in stores, and finding one on 3.0.0 or lower will be impossible. Anyone who wants to jump into the scene asap needs to secure a system below 3.0.0 very soon, or risk missing out completely. Even worse, what if the switch ends up being like the ps3, with only one exploitable firmware version? By not buying now, you could potentially be missing out on switch hax forever, even if nothing to exploit the vulnerability has been made public yet. Its possibly now or never.

i bet future released games only will work on newer firmwares, and therefor you are pushed to update. (via cart)

anyway. i got 3.01 and found out too late :( (bummer) but hey, i bet a 3.01 exploit will be found ,because there are way to many people on 3.01 already

Just played a guy on Spla2 with his name vertical. It looked like this:
M
E
M
E
S

Pretty funny. The name was sticking out of the name boxes.

I understand your concern, however on nintendo systems to date people have always found a way sooner or later. Their piracy protection just isn't as up to date as sonys or microsoft, which for the most part need soldering to get the same effect. Nintendo gc, wii, wii u, 3ds have all been homebrewed, and on the plus side an entry point into the Switch has already been found this early on into its life, which cant be said for all its predecessors. I would say the odds of another hack on higher firmware would have a 95%+ probability and that would be from a pessimistic point of view, Im more inclined to lean towards 99%+. Firmware updates at this early on in a consoles life also generally improves stability and compatibility aswell as adding useful new features. So by keeping a lower firmware its very likely your gimping your console. If your really paranoid nothing will come out in the future then I can understand your point of view, but given the current progress and Nintendos past personally I'm not worried.
