Im on 2DS B9S 1.2 Luma 8.0 and Pokemon sun or Super Mario Maker 3ds won't boot. I tested a Old game and it worked fine.
ok cool!Oh, so it's not just me! Here's my thread on the issue and what I've found out so far.

I'm in the process of testing a system format; I'll report back with the results.ok cool!
ok cool! in your post it says 7.1, im 8.0.?I'm in the process of testing a system format; I'll report back with the results.
I started experiencing the issue on 7.1 and it's persisted on 8.0.ok cool! in your post it says 7.1, im 8.0.?
oh, may be that i never actually played sun or moon when i was on 7.1 xDI started experiencing the issue on 7.1 and it's persisted on 8.0.
Ok coolSeems the format didn't really accomplish anything, but I'm going to tinker with it for another few minutes and see if I can figure something out.
Because O3DS Hardware has to reboot to play games like sumo or smash, N3DS DoesntI notice you're both on O3DS hardware. My N3DS does not do this on B9S 1.2 and luma 8.0
It's strange because my girlfriend's o3DS was cfw'd by me in the same way as my console and has no issue. It's definitely not something that affects all units for whatever reason.I notice you're both on O3DS hardware. My N3DS does not do this on B9S 1.2 and luma 8.0
weird..... i wonder why...It's strange because my girlfriend's o3DS was cfw'd by me in the same way as my console and has no issue. It's definitely not something that affects all units for whatever reason.
so basically i somehow got unlucky. lucky me. time to wait for fixes...I have 2 O3ds, that I upgraded for some pals both on BS9 and Luma 8 and got worried after reading above comments and tested both console and both Super Smash Bros and Super Mario Maker boot up fine.
But note both games installed fresh
Lucky.... im trying to find a fixCurrently i'm only using my N3DSXL but after reading this thread i decided to updated my 2DS from B9S 1.0 to 1.2 with Luma 8.0 to make sure there is no issues.
So far there is none, as for extended memory mode i only have Monster Hunter 4 and Generations to test right now but both works fine.
My problem (not sure if the same as yours or not) has been resolved.
"After running the system format AND disabling Game Patching on Luma 8.0, the problem has ceased. Anyone else with this issue should make sure Game Patching is disabled on both their SD and NAND copy of Luma 8.0, and if that doesn't fix it, format the system and redownload content as needed thereafter. If you do format your console, don't forget to backup saves and remove your SD card before running the format."
