Nobody wants to develop for a dead system.

3DS saw PSX... So, have a little faith.

You just said no one wants to develop for a dead system, but then you say to have faith, that's contradicting. I don't have faith in RetroArch Wii U because PSX is never going to happen. Even the 3DS
port has an XMB interface, Wii U is stuck with the outdated RGUI interface, what are we supposed to do?

I wasnt talking about the Wii U when I said have faith. Really...

The thread is about the Switch. Not the Wii U. I only referenced it as the dead console, nothing more. I forget how specific I have to be on these forums.

people have way to highers espectations people forget that the switch cpu is underclocked by half, i mean half, and most emulators dont use the gpu for crap they basicaly are all cpu so in regard to emulators the switch has less power than wiiu becuase preety much all emulators are single core besides dolphin i guess, technicaly speaking for single core emus wich are most of them the wiiu has better power so yeah even if n64 and psx made it to the switch unless they have dynarec it wont happen.

same as others emulators if its single core remenber that the switch only has a single gh per core and thinking dolphin runs on a quadcore 1ghz cpu is ridiculous, the shield tv doesnt have an underclocked cpu they use 2ghz cpu quadcore vs the switch 1ghz quadcore.

Oh my... So you're saying the Switch isn't as powerful as the WiiU? Isn't that cute...

you totaly missed my point... the switch isnt powerful as a wiiu for single core emulators... wich are most of them, for multicore ones its obviously more powerfull.

Even with single core performance.. If the Wii U is more powerful, then there's a problem. Clock speeds aren't the only factor to consider.

on emulators they praticaly are... on games developed for that specific platform no, but yeah emulators are praticaly full cpu in general.

heck show me any device in existance that has a quadcore 1ghz cpu or slower running any emu past ps1/n64 gen decently.

Now you're missing MY point. Not surprising. Clock speeds aren't the only factor..even with emulation. Holy hell.

Code optimizing is the other big factor; the Wii emulated N64 and that was only a 733 MHz PPC CPU, so..... yeah, the Switch can do it for sure, but again, don't count on devs showing interest. I've my doubts they will since the Wii U kinda deterred them. At least that's what the impression I'm getting is.

I kind of feel the same way. Trying to hold some optimism for The Switch. It has so much potential. I just hope it doesn't go down so quick.

The Switch would be limited to whatever a Shield TV can run. Since we know the Switch uses an underclocked X1, you can basically assume that things like PPSSPP would be good, ePSXe would be good, reicast would be possible, DraStic, but that's about the extent of it.

Since the Switch is an underclocked X1, Dolphin likely won't run nearly as well as it does on the Shield TV so that likely won't happen. Some games will be "playable", to a certain extent, but I doubt very many games will run full speed.

But in theory wouldn't you have the power android uses (and sometimes wastes through leaks of memory) avaliable to the switch in kernel mode? SWITCH OS should be lighter than nougat.

Let's all get a gtx 1070 so we can run switch emulators. Seriously though I wonder if the apis can be translated well.

Doesn't matter, the Switch has potato specs all around especially in the CPU department where things like GC/PS2 emulation is very important, it wouldn't matter if the Switch OS was the lightest OS in the world. It simply isn't powerful enough, period.

People should either use their PCs or a Shield TV for their Gamecube needs. The Wii U can play these games natively as well, most tablets can't even handle above PSX very well for the most part either.

ARM = Android
Android = Discord, Emulators, PPSSPP, PSX even Dolphin.
So we need to get Android up & running, especially Nougat version.

Agreed! Switch owners should just wait for someone to copy/pasta Android code from the Shield TV onto the Switch. The moment that happens, I'll get a switch!

Even normal Android should work, it doesn't necessarily need to be Android TV version.

tbh if it can at least handle psx and n64 emulation I would happy, using touch controls on a tablet sucks and the 3ds, well... ya, no, can't even do that

would be funny if we got cyanogen to work XD
