hi,
sorry for my bad english, but i need some help

A friend brought me a new 3ds OFW softbricked (power off during system memory formatting), black screen at startup, no nand dump, I have access to recovery mode, but I don't want updating to 11.3. you know why :D

Informations:
- cartridge games launched with the trick r + b + a + x + y at startup
- I have freakyform deluxe and cubic ninja (ninjhax is useless, because camera don't works)
- wifi works (tested with open ssid attwifi)
- I don't know firmware version installed (I have a dumper if needed)

What I have already done:

- freakyform deluxe launches well, homebrew launcher not , I don't know firmware rev, so I tried all 15 new 3ds payloads , payloads screen launches , Then 3ds goes off after the message "the homemenu ropbin is ready", except with payload 11.3, got 2 lines, 00000000 for the 1st and 01686000 for the 2nd, then black screen, but 3ds does not power off.

is my only solution is to use recovery menu and update to 11.3?

thx for your help

It may be fixable, but I assume your friend got the 3DS for cheap.
You might as well update it to 11.3 and sell it, then buy another for the same price on <=11.2 and hack that. It would be easier and wouldn't cost you anything.

I see.
It might still be fixable, since you are able to boot into games.
Not sure how to fix it though.
You did put boot.3dsx on the root of the SD right? From the starter kit on https://smealum.github.io/3ds
Sorry I can't be of more help.

i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.
