The mark says a store on Taobao, so this might tie to Foxconn again. But importantly, Foxconn leak was right. @TheDarkGreninja Do you think they can put 512 or more core in the switch?

And yet the battery life is still lame ;O;

This is something that I'm amazed people still refuse to "get." The battery life for this portable is a challenge because its specs are marginally legit in the home console space. Its specs are only marginally legit as a home console, i.e. not remotely competitive against PS4 or XB One, because it's a portable.

The product is an intentional compromise. Whether it hits the 'sweet spot' between technical capability vs. battery life is debatable. But you can be sure if Nintendo made it as powerful as the competition's wall-plugged consoles but with even less battery longevity in portable mode, people would complain. If Nintendo made it a less capable console but with much greater battery life, people would complain.

What about just making a powerful console? Then later a successor for the 3DS cuz the 3DS still selling and just got a new Pokemon game 3 months ago or less

nope basically impossible if they want to to stay cool at all. 300 cores would be best for good battery life and power.

Just making a powerful console is beyond stupid, with the way tech is improving, your console will become outdated in a matter of months, not years. in most cases of course. The PS4 is still based on Architecture from 2011.

Indeed, you can never make people happy when it comes to Nintendo.

Companies should be focussing on making the best playable game not the best looking. And Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft need to embrace this, they can never compete with PC.

I think that's a much more legitimate complaint. I'm not sure if "the home console with ok but not great specs that you can take on the go" was something we needed. But that's what the Switch is. I would've been happy with a new Nintendo, conventional TV console that actually was on-par with the competition in the specs department. I would've bought it. You would've bought it. But maybe some of the higher-ups at Nintendo know better, that our enthusiasm for that mythical product doesn't extend to the marketplace as a whole.

It doesnt, Nintendo making a home console similar to PS4 and XBONE is an extremely hard sell as the only thing that set's it apart is exclusives.
So, heres what Nintendo would have to say:
"Hey guys! Ditch all your stuff on PS4/XBONE to play Mario!"

This would not sell me one bit.

Creating a competent hybrid system to compliment my gaming PC is a much easier sell. Now all Nintendo need to do is team up with Steam to share save data and I'm set.

Also i should say, it might be an A57 at 16nm 1.7ghz but im not sure, power draw certainly looks like A72.

The battery looks very standard. Nintendo claims they'll be the only ones who can upgrade but if there's an outlet selling them then it may be possible to not send the Switch to Nintendo.

It *is* powerful. The question really is "in the really-for-real-world" after March 3, will *that* aspect of home "consoles" ('graphic fidelity') be so critical anymore, and here is why I say this:

if aGame == xPlat && aGame.platform == platform.NX {
print("Buy on Switch, because same game not-tied-to-tv");
}

People that do these things for a living see this :) Trust me.

So...if *you* believe that is a bad bet on the part of Nintendo, you need to do a little more research into multi-aspect value propositions :)
It is really a no-brainer :)

Umm that happen with EVERY tech, The PS4 might be using old tech but still works and still sell and break records same with the XboxOne selling better than the Xbox360. That logic can be applied to the Switch too which is also using even older tech. At least when the PS4 and XboxOne were released they were using new tech at that time

But look at the PS4 and XboxOne theyre selling great and dont even bring PC to the table. Nintendo on the other hand are going after a different demographic. They are probably looking for those former Wii owners by going mobile. I bet that if instead of the Switch they would had made a powerful home console with a bit of nostalgia in just its name would had make a bigger impact than the Switch did or is doing.

The PS4 and XBONE were outdated ON LAUNCH. The same with pro.

Yes theyre selling great but not anywhere near PC. Switch is aiming for gameplay over graphics which is admirable.
Switch isnt using even older tech, what are you on? The foxconn leaks would mean tech from 2016 not 2011 :rofl2:.

Their demographic is ALL people not core gamers. A nintendo home console would sell like crap what does it have over PS4? nothing.
what does it have over XBONE? Nothing.

Exclusives arent enough.

But they are not getting the games. The big AAA games are not on the Switch.

And almost everyone who has a 3DS says that they play it at home and that they dont take it with them so

It's too early to say, we have to wait for e3 and Q3 of the business year since thats when things are announced. The switch's launch has a focus on the japanese market and later on (Q3) will be the move to focus on the western market.

Yeah, good luck soldering everything.
@TheDarkGreninja Sacrificing clock over core count could lead to more interesting results. While power is linear to core count, you will sacrifice less with lower clock (and better tempreture. According to Nvidia it's squared, as in 0.7 times the clock would give you half the power consumption), and still able to tap to power when given the chance.
And this leaves us to the dev kit from Foxconn leak with a GP106 as a dgpu.

Hmm. hadn't thought of that, might work but 500 cores at such a low clock would yield very interesting results.

I think everyone who has a 3DS and uses it regularly uses it as a portable some, but probably at about an 85/15 ratio on average, of home to portable. For example I mostly play on my 3DS at home, but when my daughter has a piano or violin lesson, I sit in the car for that hour and continue my game. That hour is IMPORTANT to me. So the Switch is looking to be a fantastic upgrade, and perfect for my habits. I'm surely not alone in that.

On the other hand, I don't own a PS4 or XBOne. I don't have the time for those AAA titles you're focused on. I'd like to have that kind of time, but I haven't since my 20's. You can say that makes me a casual gamer if you like. I'd like to think I just have my priorities in order.

Opening an iPhone isn't intended for normal customers to do but it's possible and damage is avoidable. So, no, if done right it won't be screwed up, Yil.

True, but I would preferably not, especially with my less than superb skill. If you are not a master, then don't touch anything of value. And who will supply the parts anyway?
