Where is my Metroid?
I am still waiting for at least one Zelda (that is not a shameless milking port).
Actually, ugh. It didn't get enough 1st party at all... and 3rd party was non existent.
Metroid would of been nice, but because you didn't get one franchise doesn't mean it didn't have 1st party support because it very clearly did. Zelda BOTW is the WiiU Zelda u've been waiting for, it's a Wii U game and a Switch port.

The only analog items on a controller have been the joy sticks. Why would you need analog buttons?
Variable control, 0-100% vs. 0 or 100%. When you get in a car do you just floor it? Not everything is Mario Kart. 40% pull back on a bow lots of things.

In games this is total BS. A button press is a button press. I own several racing games and no matter how light or hard you hit a button, the results are the same. Analog buttons do not make any difference. Buttons are buttons.

I bet when you turn your stereo on the volume goes right to 11.

I suppose you have never used a 360 controller or GameCube controller?

I don't care what's on the virtual Console because I personally haven't purchased from it since the Wii. It must be painful for people to only have 2 titles a week and go for months for something you want released when consumers could either get the original system and it's games or emulate. It makes sense to trickle the releases for games that have series like Pokémon or Fire Emblem but to do that with everything makes no business sense.

I have owned every console to date except for a ps4. Try trolling harder
Well then you have used analog triggers. You may not have chosen to play a game that utilizes them, but I can assure you they exist.

I certainly can understand you not liking them but I really don't understand why you are so antagonistic about the issue and refuse to acknowledge the fact that analog triggers are not just an on/off input and send a different signal to the console that is utilized in some games.

Triggers.
Ps4 and xbox has this. So did gamecube. You lightly press and it would show in game.

++

Mario Sunchine is very difficult without proper analog triggers. If you can hack in a 50% mode with the secon set then it may work, but then you no longer have the purpbutt

Analog triggers are a must if you want me to take you seriously.
Anyway, I can live without them all while I try to convince myself we are still in the 90s, it adds to the retro feeling I guess.

PS: Yeah, I would play without analog triggers, but I will feel like there is a missed opportunity in half the games I play.

If I can play Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine on an official Nintendo handheld (while also boasting Super Mario Odyssey), I'll consider it the consoleist of consoles.

All games on 3DS and Wii U being downloadable again, either for free or a 75% discount.
Not happening due to technical, legal, and logistical reasons.
  • Nintendo could port over their own library, but won't sell them for 75% off. What's probably going to happen is the popular Wii U titles (e.g. Smash Bros.) will be sold at full price (or maybe a slight discount), but with all the DLC included.
  • Nintendo can't do anything with third-party titles unless the original developers agree to port them over, and the original developers would have to do the porting.
I look forward to your insightful and respectful post debating this.

I doubt they can, not without dramatically changing the game - in which case anything except full price or near won't be worth it.

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
