First, let me say I'm not a fan of these topics that lead nowhere. But since the only things remaining left for us are the Biggest Loser exploit (very ghetto, requires correct wifi card, tethered and will not be available forever), a hardmod downgrade + iEvolution (ghetto, expensive and will not be available forever), and hope...

Shortly after the announcement of soundhax (a 3DS userland exploit in 3DS Sound, based on a parsing error in song metadata), LocutusOfBorges asked on #Cakey IRC if it would work on a DSi, because he thought the players are "pretty similiar".

While they are not THAT similiar, dark_samus said he will consider giving it a look.

That is all.

[21:53:32] <LocutusOfBorges> I wonder if SoundHax can be backported to the DSi? The player seems to be pretty similar.
[21:53:53] <dark_samus> LocutusOfBorges, was going to look into it

Soundhax already works on the dsi though

(Filmed on the original ds but works on both dsi and 3ds too)

With this soundhax youcan just run DS homebrews, not in DSi mode or 3ds mode...
Furthermore it's not an exploit for the sound player app, but for a game that I don't remember the name.

I was just poking fun at this soundhax. (And it does work on the 3ds and dsi but not in dsi/3ds mode) (What homebrew used dsi mode anyways. Only I can think of is gbarunner and that dosbox port)
Can people joke around anymore?

Heres a question - do you think if this game/app was injected into the wii u's DS VC, it would still be exploitable for ds homebrew on the big screen?
The exploit uses sound so it really depends whether the ds vc has sound support or not

WOW I was going to open a thread like this xD!

As far as I know, 3DS Sound is just a 'port' of DSi Sound, so if the exploit is in the 3DS, it also must be on the DSi... The only thing we have to know is how to exploit it.

Unfortunetly, I haven't got knowledges enough to do that things :P

I meant mic support. I know that ds vc has sound (Source: the screams of many people in gta chinatown wars inject)

Can someone try to play the soundhax sound from a phone right on top of the Wii U GamePad mic like in the video?

And yes, DS VC does support mic.

Speaking of Soundhax exploit being on Nintendo DSi, I actually tried running the exploit in the latest Windows Media Player. And guess what?

It crashed! Meaning anyone can exploit Windows Media Player too. xD

I'll try it on Nintendo DSi Sound next and see what happens.

Just don't forget that Nintendo DSi Sound does not support MP3s, only AAC audio files. Converting the Soundhax to DSi format will probably not work, and if it doesn't, we may just play the exploit from a phone right on top of the DSi microphone and see what happens.

Okay, I just used the Soundhax that was used for the European Old 3DS. And it didn't work with the console (probably because it doesn't support M4A type of AAC file types). Perhaps if the file was tweaked around to a file format that is supported, along with it's correct values, then I'm sure it will make the Nintendo DSi crash.

We have to keep trying, I'm interested in reviving the DSi Homebrew once again, so we can dump our DSi NAND, research it and use the NAND dump.

That Dell data breach is worse than people probably realize....

When I worked for Dell we had access to data about military contracts and addresses for high ranking people.

I personally handled a call from the second highest person at Raytheon. That call bothered me a lot... The guy was nice and smart what bothered me was the way management basically just blew him off instead of going the extra mile to help him.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
In the end that call ended up costing Dell millions in lost contracts with Raytheon, and really the issue could have been solved for like 450 bucks lol

sometimes I wonder why anyone would ever buy mega man x legacy collection 2

I always thought that capcom shuffled the games in these collection, but apparently they are all in chronological order, which makes legacy collection 2 worthless
