Homebrew Need help, Super Mario Maker For 3DS asks me to update, what do I do?

Is it that hard to redo it? Is it worth having this layout but not have a perfect hack that will always work?

Is there a way to backup the layout config files on my PC, downgrade, then upgrade to CFW and restore them?

Not that I know of. But who cares? I have had to remake my layouts from scratch ten times cause I f*cked up. Each time I found a better layout.

I'd love to play some custom SNES VC games on my N3DS.

Wait for the xmas hack or use the dsiware hack. You won't lose your folders if you do this:

1) Make a backup of your NAND.
2) Get your OTP.
3) Restore your backup.
4) Install A9LH.

I hurts my hands when I have to redo them. I did this when I ran out of SD card data (only 300 games/apps) and it was kinda annoying.

* VC Folders
* All VC games (no folders)
* Game Franchise folders
* Year released folders
* Developer folders
* Genre folders
* A-Z

Yes, that too. But I have layouts on both SD cards; VC and eShop. I have all 200+ VC games (including 3D Classics) on one, and the other has about 80-85 eShop and 12 retail games.

Don't you suffer the unwrapping bug however? Isn't 7 layouts pointless as each time you swap sd card you need to put everything back in folders

I don't care if I lose 6 of those, but defiantly not the VC folder/eShop ones!

Never came across that bug but the eShop froze my 3DS when I got done downloading Mega Man X3.

I really can't see whats so important about one layout. If you always stick to one configuration you'll never find better ones

The other 6 don't really matter to me, but the first one does on both cards.

When switching SD cards, I also switch to the layout from that SD card.

This is more bearable then the Wii U's 292 limit BS.

As stated I don't see how a layout can be important. Thats like saying my desktop is good as is and I shouldn't change the layout of background at all.

the folders are empty when I switch SD cards because they're no longer on there so (for example, when I switch from VC games to eShop games), I have to load the "eShop folders" layout.

For downgrading from 11.0 without losing anything, one should do a hardmod. For a DSiWare downgrade, you must format the stock console before the transfer, so he will lose everything!

It would be sweet if there was a way to automatically sort by console, year, developer, or abc automatically, a feature I've been hoping for for about 5 years.
