i abandoned ship for no particular reason in both gbatemp and 3ds homebrew in general back in janurary but i decided to come back after downgrading my nfirm from 11.2 and going through the process of installing a9lh

Message one of the supervisors or an admin to do that for you. As long as you give them a really good reason to change your username, there are chances they would change it. Also, welcome back!

Accounts merged, also name changes are on a per-basis case approval and usually they're not given at all. They just cause too much confusion for other users.
