will nintendont ever support NTFS? I have all my games on a HDD using NTFS because some games are larger than 4GB. but now the gamecube games are not recognized.

Probably not. We're having enough issues with FatFS as it is (particularly in the loader). Adding NTFS support would increase the size of the loader by a ridiculous amount.

You could use two partitions (FAT32 for GCN, NTFS for Wii), or a single FAT32 partition with split files for Wii games. (Most loaders support this.)

can I just add a FAT32 partition and move my Gamecube games (for Nintendont) there?

great. will try that. before I mess anything up I am going to make an acronis backup of the drive. you never know...

You may need to resize the NTFS partition, but yes, that should work.

is just copy and pasting the wbfs folder fine as backup? then I would resize and add a fat32 partition after copying the wbfs folder from the wii HDD to a safe place.

Does it have to be original Gamecube controllers? OR can it be third party ones too?

Will have to strongly recommend against thrid party gamecube controllers. They're all crap. Even the hori fight pads that plug into the wiimotes (they don't have analog triggers). Never encountered a build quality of functionality equal to that of nintendo's.

I missed what you said earlier. Which one is working fine for you? If I dont find an original its always good to know stuff like this I think. :) Do you use it on your wii with GC contacts? Like I have on my wii?

yes, I went for the absolutely cheapest GC third party I could find on ebay. not a quality build, but OK. finished mario sunshine with it last year.

just put the games on a second FAT32 partition and now I get this:

Can someone please help me?

Got an interesting one here. Just modded a Wii a couple days ago, used Smash Stack and ModMii for the latest WADs n' such. Everything went great, but I just can't get Nintendont to run. I get the "FAT device not found or games directory not found" error.

I can read the drive just fine with Configurable USB Loader, but launching Nintendont (either on its own or through ConfigUSBL) is a no go. I've tried 5 different HDs now, all of them work just fine with other Wiis/Wii Us. Tried wiping and reformatting each drive several times over, no go. I've got no idea what's going on here. The only thing on the drive is the games folder, with one game in it. The file path/naming follows Nintendont conventions, as it works just fine on another console here.

Any ideas?

EDIT - Just saw the image above me, with the error code. I've gotten that a few times too, as well as the Wii freezing up at the Nintendont loading screen. Had it freeze up at the ConfigUSB loader splash screen a few times too.

You don't NEED a GC controller for Nintendont, it has support for all sorts of controllers, however I strongly suggest you look for first party controllers if you want them guaranteed to work properly, if you can't find a first party GC controller then I recommend getting a WiiU Controller Pro or something similar (assuming you know how to use those) as long they're first party.

Ok. Thank you so much. I think its best for me to get the GC controllers as I like to play games with them and I have the right ports for them too, so I think it will be the best. I will search for the first party ones.

I think it has to do with this:

https://github.com/FIX94/Nintendont/issues/242

I will try a "primary" partition tomorrow.
No go for my issue :( I reformatted a drive yet again using EaseUS Partitioner, making sure everything is set up correctly. Same error as before, "FAT device not found or usb:/games directory not found.

I'ma try running Nintendont off the USB drive instead of an SD card, see what happens.

EDIT - Alright, tried running Nintendont from the USB drive. App shows up and launches in HBC just fine. "Checking storage device...." hangs there for about a minute, then "No FAT device found" error. Sent back to HBC, repeat.

I guess this is some sort of IOS error?

EDIT #2 - Started over again. Managed to get Nintendont to read the drive once. Listed the game on the drive, but on game boot it black screened instantly. Reset the Wii, goes right back to "usb:/games/ was not found".

It sort of worked for a second there. Ugh. Never had so many issues with Nintendont previously.
