DBZ, although it's probably pure nostalgia fuel at this point. DBZ is also ridiculous with their overpowered baddies - to the point where everyone gets their power level boosted for ridiculous reasons. (Power creep, people. I mean, introducing Cell/Majin Buu...)

Naruto Shippuden is okay, but the FILLERS are just killing me. This anime is a bit more nuanced and less - I'd throw a 300+ pound gorilla in with a bunch of defenseless termites and watch the results. And you know in that analogy, DBZ characters will pull out some bullshit reason for winning a fight.

I'd recommend Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Kill la Kill, or Gurren Lagann. There's also Log Horizon, but I don't think the second season ever got dubbed.

Dragon Ball Z. Pretty sure it was the first anime I saw, so typically the first is the best, has a special place. Naruto was great, but I never finished the series, unlike DBZ. I simply stopped watching the show. I can't really explain why, I just stopped. But DBZ, never stopped, in fact I rewatched the whole show as an adult from December 2012 to January 2013. Binge watched. I'm willing to binge watch Naruto though. Both shows are great gateway anime series, and had Naruto been the first, I probably would've preferred that, and then going to DBZ afterwards might be awkward. After all, the yells, the comedy, strange villains like Majin Buu, the fat pink bastard, Kid Buu as the final villain of the series. Things like that, so Naruto would stand tall because it balances maturity, lightheartedness and heart in a different way than DBZ. As it turned out, DBZ came first, and definitely beats Naruto in testosterone. Even today I get the urge to do a big Saiyan yell.

Who watches dubbed anime? -_-
To be fair though FMA: Brotherhood has excellent dubbing (i think).

With that said, I watched DBZ and Naruto dubbed. Just a bit on DBZ subbed, I'm not big on Goku's voice. I know an elderly woman voices him, and I did like this 30 minuted subbed special that featured Vegeta's younger brother. Still, I prefer the guy who voices Goku in the Funimation dub.

neither

go watch Hunter x Hunter instead if you want a long series to watch

thats like every shounen anime ever
power of friendship and such

Lol. I tend to gravitate towards dark anime. Hence why Elfen Lied, FMA: Brotherhood (oi, the Chimera episodes always get me teary eyed), Psycho-Pass (they actually played the movie in a small amount of theatres here, and I wanted to go), Berserk (seriously screwed up world)...

DBZ and Naruto compared to One Punch Man are just small potatoes. Once you've seen OPM you just want more.
