Thank you, this clears up a lot!!!!!
Nice to hear from the xploit creator himself

Ok so hykem basically has 5.5.0 done and is doing the boot loading stuff, These guys however are WAY further ahead than him!
So he's letting them take over as he feels no need to release something similar whilst being slower to release than these guys

So our exploit should be coming even sooner than usual, this is great news, depending on their numbers it should be MUCH QUicker!!!

So for Hykem he said he'd release before February!!
Pluto and co could have it out way sooner, maybe even mid January!!!

So no one fret, this is BRILLIANT!!!! :yayu:
They have said they won't release it :/

So, let me get this straight.
1) Plutoo posts a picture of a wii u pad controller with red screen and 4 characters
2) Everyone goes batshit crazy over that picture
3) Hykem gives up on giving the exploit because he THINKS (denote here, THINKS) that the picture will, consequently, have a release from plutoo and naehrwert.
4) I pm naehrwert on IRC regarding this and he tells me there WON'T be a release and this is just for CTF purposes.

So, on which point do we stand now? Is this a bad fucking joke from all the devs? Because i'm certainly not finding this shit any funny.
So, draw your own conclusions, this scene is more than dead. It's filled with cheats and piracy, and releasing the keys, or not, wouldn't make it any difference. In fact, it would only increase the drama.
I'm out of this, this is not how developers should behave, people should talk and establish conclusions BEFORE making assumptions.

1) Yes he did
2) Sounds promising though right?
3) No, hykem has a lot of knowledge on the project, it is much further ahead than it looks
4) Wait what? can you post that here, hykem only said hed stop because other people are further ahead, there WILL be an exploit

Check the post just below you, the quote is where they said that
Yeah I just read it. That's a shame. These are the guys who keep working on the 3DS scene. Then again, these are also the same guys who refused to release anything 3ds related until 1999909 years later.

smea is anti piracy

Naehrwert works closely with smea

hykem gives exploit to naehrwert

hopes exploit will be developed for public release

naehrwert says to zecoxao that its not for public, it's for ctf.

did I miss anything?

Exactly. There are only public CFWs for the 3DS thanks to pastebin leaks and people reversing rxTools.

If we'd wait for the twitter figs we'd have nothing but that ridiculous homebrew channel.
But of course they'd post several images and videos of stuff they would never release.

Im very surprise that hykem dont know this guys (pluto and smealum) and both dont like to release his works.
@Hykem you said that WIIU Scene will be on good hands? LOL
They are great devs but dont like to share with the community!
Forget about Boot IOSU Exploit, the most important is share what you already have!
Man, wake up!!!!

To try and shift the topic a little, shouldn't the OP be updated? It doesn't mention jackshit about an IOSU exploit or the fact that it could work on the latest Wii U firmware.

Also I think it's worth mentioning that this is technically the second time naehwert ignited drama via "one-upping" another hacker. First was crediar by reverse engineering the WUP installer (pointless because it eventually became open source), second was Hykem by having a more developed Wii U exploit. Or am I completely wrong about this?

Time to clear the air again.

The following statements are facts:
- I have successfully compromised the Wii U's IOSU;
- The exploit being used works from 2.0.0 up to 5.5.0, but it obviously needs to be ported for each firmware;
- The exploit doesn't need PPC kernel access, so the new kernel exploit won't have to be released.

I want to do some kind of Christmas surprise yes, but take that with a grain of salt. I can't promise I will have the time to get everything ready by then and I'm not disclosing what will be released.
Keep in mind that releasing the exploit "as-is" is pointless, so it will have to be ported first and most likely obfuscated so it will take a little longer to patch. It's also worth noting that I will have to develop an easy way to block updates so no one updates past 5.5.0 by accident.

If you don't believe in anything stated above, that's not my problem. The best (and easiest) thing to do is wait and see.
These facts are nothing right now, right? :/

For example, HOW is is risky to get banned if you extract the save files to the CFW?
  • A @ ATEMVEGETA:
isn't this proccess be done while you're offline?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
We are not Nintendo, so we don't know exactly how/why/when they ban, but better to stay on the safe side and not do shady stuff, if you don't want to be banned. Hayato is one of the most knowledgeable ones here on the subject and I believe what he says.

    300 bucks hmmm lol
  • A @ ATEMVEGETA:
@BigOnYa, Yes ofc we don't know how Nintendo bans work, but if there are situations where a lot of people have tried safely then we can at least assume that this path is pretty much safe. To say don't try anything homebrew relative just to be safe forever is the easiest thing to say to someone. What I am trying to figure out here is with which cases and what actions got most of the people their bans for.
  • A @ ATEMVEGETA:
Most things I can find resulting to a ban is save-editing reasons, like Pokehex, etc, and going online afterwards.
