Hello, so today i started to install rxTools on my 3DS (fw. 4.3.0-0E), but when i need to install the MSET exploit, i cant find the QR code button, it isn't there! After that i tried to manually write the exploit URL to the web browser, but the console tells me that i need to update before i can use the web browser.

Please help, thank you.

QR you can launch via the camera app. Press L/R & then you should see the QR icon. Maybe you should update to your console to 4.5/9.2 (might be better)

You can also try using rxTool 2.5.1/2 to install fbi & upgrade your browser & see if it works.

The number after your version number (here, 4.3.0-0E) represent your Spider (Internet browser) version. The 0 means that you don't have the web browser installed, probably because you updated from a cartridge, or didn't update at all...
From what I've understood, when this is the case, you can't use any CFW, and the only way to install the web browser is with some cartridge exploit (so Gateway / Ninjhax, and Ninjhax needs to be preinstalled given that it uses the browser too)...
Maybe there's another method though, but if there is, you will probably find it on this forum :)

(sorry for my bad english btw)

You only need a DS flashcart to install it.

http://www.rxtools.net/#!howto << Put your version there and choose browser not available. You'll see the instructions.

And for god sakes, don't update since there's no need for it. You really just need the DS flashcart. If you update above 4.5 and since you don't have the browser installed, you'll lose every way to make it work.

Thank you for the replies, yes indeed i know where the QR code button should be, but it's not there. Maybe there is a way to install web browser without updating sysnand? I have also access to Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which contains update 4.5.0, would that work?

You can update to 4.5 if you want but that won't change anything. You'll still not have the browser.

You need a DS flashcart, pure and simple.

No, it will not work, because updates on cartridges don't update the web browser...

Like @lemanuel says, the cheapest way to do it is probably via the DS mode exploit with any DS flashcart :/

Well I thought you mightv'e launch the camera app from the home menu like I sometimes do, which in my case won't show the QR icon.

Exactly. Plenty of cheap options available. A DS flashcart that can work in that version is often available for $5/$10. You'll be able to install a CFW that way that allows you to play any game you want virtually and you'll still have a neat way to play DS games if you want.

Best option 10/10 (only option really. lol)

If you want a great ds card I'd recommended the Supercard dstwo.

This is the best one. But it's also expensive.

It will depend on what you want to spend since you don't really need one that works in all firmwares. One that works in your firmware (since it's old) is just fine and probably cheaper.

The R4i SDHC (http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=490) is relatively cheap and will probably be the best choice if you will use it only to install the exploit.
However, if you think you will use it frequently, you can buy the DStwo (http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=135) which is significantly more expensive (40$), but comes with great support for emulators, and bypass almost any anti-piracy check without patching, which is very useful.

Yeah, i just need one for to install CFW, nothing else.

Thanks to everyone who replied to this thread! I will probably buy the cheaper option (http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=490)

Another tip I'd like to give is before installing rxTools is that you make a NAND backup 1st. So install the gateway mset 1st & then make a backup! For making emunand you'd need to use the gateway launcher anyways! On this forum are a lot of guides for that. Good luck with everything!:)

P.s Sorry if my english is bad my, english isn't my native language.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
