I change regions all the time with savedatafiler. I just rip the raw data from say the EU save and then make a dummy US save file and then transfer the data onto there.

It worked for me with MM when I got the private EU release and a few days later got the scene release US

Is there a good guide for this? This is exactly what I want to do

I asked in the noob questions thread but nobody replied, so I'll ask here:
how do I extract a save from a retail cart? (type-1)
how do I put it back in? (NTR?)

p.s. btw I don't have a new 3ds and not even cubic ninja, so I guess I can't use NTR.

It's very simple, first you need savedatafiler installed as a cia. You then find your save file and rename it 000400000FF40A00.sav. Mounted the game and load SaveDataFiler. Highlight CTR Card. I pressed Y and then A to export the savegame. Now take the dummy save from the region you want and rename it 000400000FF40A00.sav and do the same thing and have the cart mounted and boot SaveDataFiler. Go over to sd card and import the save. Once done you then rename the save back to how it was originally.

Ronhero, are you saying you transfered Gateway .savs between regions with SDF?

Does anyone know how to do with CFW and with SDF and no Gateway involved?

I assume since you have a cfw you're going from cia to cia? The same thing applies you just need to find the title ID as far as I was told

How do you not? The gateway launcher has the ability to write a save file to a cartridge. I asked if it does or does not work on newer games. I used it for OOT3D but that game is old.
It does not work with 6.x encryption games or games with save sizes not 512k.

I didn't understand the question either until this reply. A little more detail is always helpful.
