I wonder if those who are experiencing the save corrupted issues are using saves that use a bad CRC16 checksum. OoT 3D uses a very simple checksum to know if the game's saves are "correct" or not, and perhaps Gateway simply forgot to fix it in their mad dash to get the release out (they obviously rushed this release)? This is just speculation on my part though, I can't test my hypothesis without my original 3DS (hurry up, USPS...!).

This sounds like one of the smartest things I've heard pertaining to this all day. Do we know where the checksum is? Because if we do, couldn't we just dump a save from our own card and move the checksum over before importing it?

Yeah, like the other exploits (DS profile or Web Browser exploits also had to be run every time you start up your 3DS).

Aye.

http://cloudmodding.com/zelda/oot3dsave

In your saveXX.bin, it's the very last 4 bytes of the file. To calculate the checksum, you set all 4 bytes to zero, calculate CRC-16 (Initial Value of zero, Polynomial 0x8005, Reversed Polynomial 0xA001) on the entire file (including the zeroed bytes), and then update those four bytes with the checksum result (the last two are always zero, since CRC-16 is 16-bit). As for how you would do it with the .SAV format gateway has provided, I do not know. I've only messed with OoT 3D's saves via SaveDataFiler, which spits out raw saveXX.bin files.

With all due regards, I don't think you can move a checksum. Checksum is supposed to depend on the rest of the save. I think. You could fix the checksum if you knew how it works. But a dump from a regular game wouldn't help there, unless you wanted to check if your checksum theory is true.

yeah im getting the impression this poll is troll bait, i have access to 4 copies, all work fine

4 reported working 9 reported not working in their posts, if the poll sways far from the actual post results il remove it, but right now if anything the poll shows its less wide spread then the reported posts....

Oh and you are a very lucky man, count your blessings as some of us may not be so lucky.

Those who have it working should dump their cards, wipe the UID with Gateway ROM Patcher, cross-check the hash with http://3ds.essh.co/
and post the results as well, so we can figure out if the game revision really does have anything to do with it.

Thanks everyone for posting, I have to eat supper but il be back and will continue to update the op so we can have all this info in one place, and hopefully Gateway will release a fix for those who's OoT isn't working for the exploit.

Anyone who gets responses from gateway when you send them an email, please link them to this page so they are made aware of this problem.
