Okay so I don't know what's on-topic anymore, but to calm things down: does anyone know what OS+webkit-based browser combination the team that developed the exploit uses in QEMU?
I'm aware of both definitions, and was obviously referring to the computer type, which you (clearly) should have looked up. I was also being sarcastic.
I believe 0x101c400 is the coreinit base on 5.3.2. Got this by adding the size of the loader's .text section to 0x01000000 and rounding to the nearest 0x400.
I don't quite follow this.
So in the loaded kernel, this is where the base of coreinit exists? At least on 5.3.2?
Do you think in time the kernel exploit will lead to other doors opening? i.e Starbuck, storage keys etc.
I heard the eshop title punch out wii uses the gamepad control? I wonder how nintendo got the gamepad to work if these titles are meant to run in vwii mode?
If the vWii can do it, so can Wii U mode. That's how you got to the interpreter in the first place.I don't think the Wii U mode has enough power for GC games, the only reason the Wii can do it is because its hardware is so similar to the GC hardware that it's interpreting it instead of emulating it (google it). However, maybe with analysing the eshop wii game code we can get GamePad support on nintendont.
It depends, even with a kernel exploit you're still pretty sandboxed. You can now break out of the browser and into other apps. You might be able to modify system code in the memory since you can disable memprot now but nothing with the actual binaries. Same with region lock, that's all IOSU, we can't even touch the Starbuck with a kernel exploit. Save transfer won't be possible without an IOSU exploit since you still need the storage keys for your system. Enabling new controllers is possible since most of that should be on the game's side and so you can just patch the code.
Reagarding saves, if transfer saves are not possible for the reason you just mentioned, it would be possible leave a game in a specific state?, to be more clear, if I wanted (for example) unlock every trophy in Smash 4, then save this state?
Doyou have to run the kernel exploit everytime you switch your console on?
Yes, you will have to open the web browser to execute homebrew every time you power on the console. To have something persistent like a homebrew channel would require an IOSU exploit.
But, if you are just talking about altering game saves, since there's already a mechanism to persist those, those changes would theoretically survive a console power cycle.
Actually not even an IOSU exploit would allow that, you'd have to defeat the loader because now it checks if the program is legit both at install time and every time you open it, so even if you were somehow able to install it you couldn't make it boot.
When do you think we will be able to run backups on Wii U? Do you think it will be even possible? It's just a question about what do you think, so please don't talk about a cristal ball. I'm just asking opinions.
