Lucky me, ive ordered mine already B-)

BTW if this one rom per card feature turns out to be true what do you guys think what are the odds that theyll implement the rest of the features over time?
Only a matter of time, even if this particular exploit makes it physically impossible to do anything else.
There will be others later.

The only question there would be how long till the next functional exploit is found. And can they still use their current card to make that work.
If they can make it work, they will make it work. (Either that or they choose to close up shop in which case its a moot point.)

Anyone else scared that 9.2 will only have single rom support and they won't ever find a kernel exploit like they did with 4.5 and then we'll be stuck with single rom support forever? I hope they have something good for the future...

Didnt the 1.0 GW have a one game per card restriction at the beginning? Im thinking since its a new exploit new coding is required. That would explain the rumored poor features of the 9.x firmware.

Well since they offer ROM emulation im pretty sure they found a kernel exploit.

It'll depend I suppose on what this new exploit permits them to do. Otherwise, I'll argue the added features will come over time.

I also have a feeling that they're rewriting the whole website.

If the new Gateway update for 9.x is that different, they'll have to restructure the website seeing as it's geared towards the 4.5 crowd. Want to sell a product? At least don't make it confusing. I mean the right column wouldn't make ANY sense if the 9.x update contained only single ROM.

Nice guess but you dont really need that much time spent on a redesign. A day is more than enough, two max.

Think so? Because if they're just emulating a retail cart like Sky3DS I'm not so sure.

I'm guessing that to emulate a retail cart like Sky3DS you'd need a whole PCB change.. Right? ..

Or are we back to the whole FPGA thing again?

I'm still so confused and lost on what that FPGA is.. And Wiki doesn't make it better ..

I was also thinking that, which is why I don't think it is like Sky3DS. But if it is a Kernel exploit, why would they need to completely recode everything like multi-rom if it was already done for 4.5? I'm sure it's not THAT much different that they couldn't even use the 4.5 multirom+homebrew+etc. code as a base for 9.2.

Different Kernel Exploit = different coding?
I mean whats not to understand.

If they reprogrammed the card to work like Sky3ds does they would not tell us to stick to 9.x. Thats why Im almost positive they found another kernel exploit that needs to be developed like the one its currently being used.

I don't think one is supposed to triple post...

Yeah... Whatever I do what I want!

Oh well I'm not sure if you're correct but I was under the impression that the kernel exploit was just to gain deeper access and things like multirom coding and such came afterwards. Are you sure that the extra features have to be loaded into / along with the kernel exploit or whatever?

Im almost 100% positive that for you (us) to be able to play our backups a kernel exploit is needed (software wise).

I think so too, but did Sky3DS find a kernel exploit? Or are they just plainly emulating a retail cart (which I think is what they are doing, no?)

Every time I wake up and come back to this topic I see the most random off-topic posts... this time it being Gateway bible posts, at least its kinda funny... Nearly 100 pages now. I think Gateway would be smart to get this out somewhere before mid to late December when all the Christmas shopping is done, that way they will maximize their profits.

Nah, they'll find a new chink in the armor later on. And even if that takes a lot of time, I can only play one game at a time, perhaps get a few 2~4gb microSD's for games of a more persistent nature.
I just hope that with single-slot ROM comes region free.

Shin Megami Tensei IV for example, came out in Europe as Digital Only, America got a physical release ..
Yea, same for Rune Factory 4

I don't think I've seen any confirmations that people figured out how SKY3DS does it. There's educated guesses, but there's no clear "here's how they did it".
Though I may have missed that in one of the myriad threads, I'm fairly certain that its all just guesswork.

Moreover, if you can just 'fool the system' into thinking a ROM is a real game - wouldn't they have done so ages ago?
Nah, there's gotta be some exploit or whatnot that allows them to do it.

Delivery times man... mid~late december means you're probably not gonna get your 'present' this year at all.

True. Here's to hoping there actually is a kernel exploit and we get multirom and region free eventually :) I want to play Maplestory 3DS someday!!!

Already told you, its almost certain they found a kernel exploit - im thinking in the themes or whatnot. To play roms you either need kernel access or an ODE like Sky3ds.

Except for those of us in China. I can literally walk 5 minutes down the block and pick up a Gateway for 350 RMB ($57) at a bunch of nearby electronic and game stores. I think if they finish in early December that might be cutting it close but would be able to get to many houses before Christmas day for those in the West.
