That's assuming those who own GW don't want to ever use any system except the one they already have. Maybe they want to change to a New or even *shudder* a 2DS. If this works on 9.x and keeps working beyond that, and if GW doesn't ever get to that point, I can see plenty of GW owners going for this, eventually.

Granted, there are a lot of ifs there, and we really don't know that much about this yet, just saying that owning a GW doesn't completely negate maybe wanting one of these, lack of features be damned.

And that is where i think you are wrong.
many here belive, us powerusers are the main crowed for such a product, be it gateway or sky3ds. i think, the majority of users of such products only want to pirate games, or take a few games with them on one single cartridge. hence the incredible amount of uninformed people coming here on a daily basis, requesting things/asking things/starting threads they already would know if they even once visited and gave the hacking section even a glimpse. i, myself, sold a gateway-capable 3ds second hand in my area over the internet and the percentage of people just asking "so with this i can download my games and play them?" instead of users knowing what was going on was staggering. and yes, this crowed is also the market gateway is after. sure, there will always be the poweruser, wanting to play his tiny homebrews and play japanese games, but in my mind the are just a tiny chunk of the overall customer of gateway, or sky3ds

i cannot belive until now no one has mentioned the possibility of this being the gateway-team, releasing a new product under a different name, in order to make their users pay again. me personally i would not care that much. got ten times the worth out of my gateway.

other than that, i welcome this eddition to the piracy-scene. more so, because due to it not being hack-based, i assume this can be replicated by chinese teams pretty easily (provided it is not fake) and therefor cheap(er) clones would surface.
this is all assumption on my part, granted. i really do hope this will work on the New3DS and wont get blocked for as long as possible.

It actually was said once some pages back. Who knows who is behind it — if it is real. I know for a fact that teams have released competing DS carts under different brands. I won't name them out of respect.

It could very well be members of (or whole) teams from earlier gen flash carts. Maybe it is NEO but the price is cheap.

i think you will find my answer was more correct than this....he asked if signed homebrew could be used with this card, not can unsigned homebrew be used without this card

I sure hope that when smea ends up releasing SSSpwn that developers will actually start taking an interest in homebrew development for the 3DS. The more homebrew that's developed for SSSpwn, the more we'll be able to run on 4.x.

If it doesn't cause interest, SSSpwn is gonna get abandoned very quickly. If there's no reason to stay on a lower firmware, people will update.

yeah tbh the launch of ssspwn has to be timed right to get more of a buzz, the last fail launch was going to be cool it was going to be alongside a snes emulator to wow and amazing new comers to the scene.......i think smea needs a new killer app to keep people from updating whilst waiting for the software to appear (if it ever does take off that is : ( )

TELL ME IT'S A JOKE! I sold my 9.0 3DS XL, and invested around 360$ on 3DS XL 4.5 + Gateway + Micro SD, i even lost my saves cuz i couldnt do system transfer, i got the 4.5 3ds not a week ago, and now this

If this card is not proven to be fake (like many others before) and is supposedly a 1:1 flashcard, here's what you lose in features compared to Gateway:
- no region free
- no eshop roms support
- no rom hacking (rom modifications)
- no fancy menu to select your roms (imagine the wait time when you need to press the hardware button 20 times for the 20th game)
- no homebrew support (ssspwn will be patched on 10.x or higher)
- no savegame editing (what GW claim will be in the next FW)
- no realtime cheats (in theory possible with GW but not with 1:1 flashcard)

-No emuNAND support. I know, with this new flashcart you shouldn't need it to access the eShop. But emuNAND had its advantages over the sysNAND, such as that you could easily backup and restore it without a hardware mod.

The only reason to use this over GW is that your 3DS isn't GW compatible.

In addition to the possibility of the GW team stopping updating if they lose sales, I'm afraid that this new flashcart will prompt many people with 4.x to update their systems, lowering the number of GW compatible 3DS in existence

Yes, I see this really hurting GW sales despite lacking many of its features.

That said, GW should still be better for pirates who don't care about homebrew, seeing how it can run eShop games, it's not region locked and has a more convenient way of switching games. It's just too bad that the average consumer won't be aware of that.

Gateway will most likely copy them when they release it and Gateway will launch her ''copied'' Update which will make GW compatible with any fw, unless it needs some card modifications, then, gateway will just launch a new card
