I fixed all the dead vertical pixels when I first received the console. Now, after I installed the back light kit and re-assembling both halves, I cracked the lower right screen where the ribbon cable attaches to. Now, you see the dead vertical pixels on the far right. Don't worry why it's showing only half of the top screen it's.due to the camera sensor why it looks like that. It's the dead vertical pixels we're looking at.

Is there any way this is fix-able? I know I'm going have to get a new used LCD screen. Just curious if there's any fix to this.

If you put extra pressure on the back of the screen where the ribbon cable attaches, does the screen work properly? If so you've broken the connection (likely scenario regardless of whether it works or not) and need to find a way to reattach it (unlikely that you'd be able to do that). If that's the case you may be able to limp it along by finding a way to apply extra pressure to that area when the case is closed, but I'd worry about applying too much and getting that "waving" in the LCD (no idea what it's called) and breaking it further.

In any case though, wicked backlight mod, mate!

I'll see if that works when I take it back apart. I see no pixels coming back when I press on the lower areas of the cable. :( Seems permanent.

I got a used non working DMG on the way. Guy said it worked but has dead vertical pixels before system is dead. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to fix the dead vertical like I did to my broken screen.

You can buy a used GameBoy for very cheap. Maybe you can swap the screen from that GameBoy?

Yes, that's I did. Got one on the way.

Cleaning behind the glass LCD screen is sort of a pain cause of all the smudge you get from removing the stock foil for the back light.

Rubbing alcohol with a free lint cloth works wonder.

Even when I trim away some of the white bracket material around the screen to make some room so I don't crack the new lcd screen, but theres still pressure on the lower right corner of the screen. I can see it being pink on the lower right corner while every thing else is yellow.

I believe my back light is thick enough for the screen to stick out some. So that causes some pressure which cracked the screen in the first place.

All said and done! There's slight pinkish on the lower right corner. Can't see it in the picture, but you do in real life. A tad more yellow than blue as shown here. I can live with that. Don't want to break another LCD screen:

Here is where I cracked the screen before trimming anything on the white bracket that center's the screen. When I was tightening down the LCD screen mother board to the front shell, I heard a crack. Still kept assembling the console and when I got done, I saw the dead vertical pixels like in the picture in post # 1. Here's where the damage was when I took it back apart, nothing can be done. None of the pixels came back:

So to those who plans to perform this job, be very careful when assembling back the motherboard to the front shell casing. Make sure to trim or cut the center part of the white bracket around the LCD screen out so the glass screen doesn't rest on top of that white bracket and crack when assembling. There's quite of pressure, so be careful guys! I'm glad my 2nd attempt went better than the first. Lol.

@Xdqwerty No you heard wrong, and don't believe till you experience yourself. Fallout 4 is one of my favorite games of all time. Yes it had issues early on, esp with older hardware like the xbox1, but it is awesome, esp now being 4k on Series S/X or PS5

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you right there, fallout 76 was a letdown, but it not that bad now, they have fixed slot of issues they had at launch. Biggest issue with Fallout 76 is its a pay to advance further type of game, which sucks
