Hardware Would you change the Wii U's name, and if so, to what?

Do you like the name of the Wii U?

How about "DS emulator bait"
because the first thing I thought about when I saw the second, touch sensitive screen was the Nintendo DS.

Even better if they actually made it capable of output to a 3D television and put some 3DS games on the virtual console.
(but Nintendo isn't gonna provide anything on virtual console they could just make you buy another console to play.)

EDIT : Seriously, though, it's gotta cost an arm and a leg to add a second, third, and finally fourth control to that system. I would guess the control would be half the price of the console itself.

It would be pretty cool to be able to play DS games on the Wii U... I kinda miss the old days when Nintendo thought stuff like the Super Gameboy, N64 Gameboy pack, and Gameboy Player were good ideas.

Ok, wow, didnt really think I had to specify, but Nintendo changes the names of it's consoles, not necessarily the handhelds. And if you wanna be a little smart ass again, then yes I'm aware of how the NES and SNES are quite similar in name too (that includes their corresponding Japanese names too).
Sheesh calm down, dude. He's just playing around. No need to get so offended. ;-)
I was actually just pointing out the flaw in his argument.
The only things that Nintendo has made with different names like that was N64 and Gamecube.

Which are different from the NES systems and Wii systems. Just sucks the Wii couldn't be like every other Nintendo system (except the nes) and have no other system named like it.

Again I use system here to mean console, not console and handheld. Not something I thought I'd have to specify, but I know better now.
Just like every other system except one half.
Your argument is very silly.

Man, what are you taking about, every Nintendo console name is different, even the super Nintendo was different enough, cuz at least it wasn't called the Nintendo 2 or worse yet the NES-U. My argument is very sound. It doesn't make much sense for Nintendo to continue with the Wii branding, especially when it's already alienated so many people.
NES
SNES
N64
GAMECUBE
Those are the ones with different names, excluding the Wii.
NES and SNES make up half.
So only half of the systems, before the Wii, were like you say.

Now you're just ignoring my entire post, adding super to NES is substantially better than simply naming it NES 2 or worse yet NES-U. Because of this, I consider both systems different names, so for me I don't feel like any Nintendo console has had such a similar sounding name until now with the Wii U.

I kinda agree with you, here. Pretty much every console EXCEPT the Wii (technically) had Nintendo in the title. Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube. To suggest that Super Nintendo is the same name as Nintendo when EVERY console except the Wii HAD Nintendo as officially part of the name is pretty silly.

Does it REALLY matter, dude? It's a poll on a freaking internet forum filled with LOLs and ROFLs. "could care less," while technically incorrect, yes, is quite regularly used, and people know what it means. It's no different than using such words as "ain't".

It's a pet peeve of mine. That so many people could make such a stupid mistake every day is just depressing. I make my share of mistakes, but phrases that don't make logical sense tend to annoy me.

It is different than "ain't", because ain't still makes sense, even if it isn't proper grammar. This is more like you making the title to "Would you change the Wii U's name, and if not, to what?"

Yeah but 'ain't' IS a real word. LOL
On topic though I don't rellay care about the name. Although I cannot WAIT to see how they'll milk the name using the 'U' in most of the games.

I still think you should put a little more effort into your topics, especially when there is a poll involved. If it had been me, I wouldn't have asked a different question in the topic title than in the poll. Who knows how many people chose an answer thinking they were answering the topic question.

No offense, but how much "effort" I put into a topic on an internet forum is really not your business. If it's not perfect enough for you, then don't vote or comment.

If it had been me, I wouldn't have asked a different question in the topic title than in the poll. Who knows how many people chose an answer thinking they were answering the topic question.
Except that the purpose of the poll and thread weren't the same... I wanted to see how many people like the Wii U name, and wanted ideas for a name change, if people didn't like that name. Obviously, I can't POLL what people think the name change should be. If people are making mistakes, they should read more carefully before posting.

That said, it would be nice to have an option that allows you to change your vote.

How about Wii DS.
Although since you are able to put in two of the new controllers, maybe Nintendo TS ("Triple Screen" instead of "Dual Screen") would be more appropriate.

Yeah, just take all the N64 games ever released, improve the graphics, drop the 64 and tack on a U. Then re-release them.
The next step would be doing the same thing with "super" in all the SNES games and any other games that had "advanced", "DS", or "3D" tacked on it.

EDIT : Hey, call it !!M which is Wii Upside down. (You can tell I'm board but still out of ideas.)
