I've never been that much of a person to buy lots of games or not know when a game I want while come out well in advance. I can see people buying games used now seeing as massive titles get announced so close to each other at 60-70 dollars, but back when, it was 1 or 2 games within a month for 30 bucks.

I haven't bought a used game yet. Generally, used prices are only a few quid cheaper close to the game's release, mint condition cannot be guaranteed and buying games used doesn't support the developer. Even months after release, some games can be cheaper new than pre-owned, if you find the right online store with the right deal.

I also never trade my games in, which is why my loft is full of old games from when I was a kid.
Trading games at the likes of Gamestop is a complete joke. They give you 10 to 20 percent the amount they'll resell it for, if you're lucky. I remember just a couple weeks ago I saw someone trying to trade in their PS3 at the local gamestop, and they could only get something like $45 cash or $60 store credit. Meanwhile, they're selling the PS3 used for what, $120-$150 or something like that? Wtf?

The only benefit of trading IMHO is if you have TON of stuff to get rid off, want a little fast cash, and are too lazy to deal with selling on Ebay or Amazon or Craigslist. Otherwise it's a complete ripoff.

Oh, I ran into an occasion not to long ago where a new copy of a game was cheaper then a used copy. There was no difference between the two, just that one was used and the other was new. Guess which one I got.

in the uk second hand prices are more than the brand new prices
Wtf, why???
Yeah, it's not always the case but happens quite often. It's really common for used and new games to be the same price, especially around the £15 mark. The new price drops or goes on offer and the used price isn't updated accordingly, it's really stupid.

Generally, I agree. However, Gamestop recently had a promo where they game extra store credit for any 360 trade-ins, so I took a LAUNCH MODEL (The one with the 75% fail rate) down and got enough on it to get roughly 120 back, no games traded, just the 20 gig HDD I had spare. I did take care of it, and never had that one RRoD on me. (Side note, I did have a 360 Slim die on me. Was the Halo: Reach model. Microsoft replaced it without a word.)

Took that credit and bought Nintendo 3DS prepaid cards.

Moral of the story: If you are going to do a trade at Gamestop, check for promos. Otherwise, it really is a waste.

Thanks for the info. But either way, I think Gamestop is a great place to shop, no less. Even if there are better bargains to shop for online, it's still nice to get input from people who generally know what they're talking about, rather than some general sales rep at Wal-Mart who might not have even ever touched a video game in his/her life.

Since Singapore has no CN bonus, I buy used games if there were a $10+ difference. Otherwise, I'll always go for new.

I get em new just cuz they are cartrages. I don't tend to trust gamestop when it comes to used cartrages since they could be damaged. Maybe I just am skeptical but I always go for new. Plus they are only 40 bucks compared to home console games, which I'll almost always buy used.

i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
