not to that extent, they just have no damage at all, i guess i need to stop being overprotective and go out with my dses more often...
Was mostly joking. It really seems to me that the DSlite is rather delicate. (or maybe I'm just rough on them without meaning to be)

and the place you put the recharger has some sort of green dirt that look like "mud" (wtf?)

Green? That sounds more like corrosion than mold. Could be wrong. Maybe someone else here has experience with something like this.

Can you get a picture for us?

Correct, no surprises there.
XD happens with contacts sometimes, I have had it in the headphones slot of my iPod before.

My hinge broke off, so often times the top screen just hangs down by that bundle of wires that goes through the top. Never got any scratches until I took off the screen protectors (the scratches on the protectors bother me more than scratches on the actual device). The bottom-middle edge of the screen doesn't give great feedback on certain games, though I think this has been an issue from the very beginning.

Oh and this one fanboy was nice enough to tell me that I'm the only one who has ever had a problem with the DS Lite's hinge. Apparently it's an isolated problem that has only happened to me, because I bought mine at Best Buy, which you know, only sells bootleg Chinese DS Lites with faulty hinges. It wasn't a manufacturing oversight or anything. *phew* Good thing nobody else has ever had this problem!

My phat has some scratches and dust in the inside of the top screen, but otherwise (touchscreen, buttons, etc.) it's fully functional. Recently, when I lent my phat to my little brother, something happened, causing my ds to not charge (I'm thinking that the fuses are busted?). I can still charge on my other broken (broken as in, split in half, but it still charges) ds, exchange the battery, and cycle the battery whenever my phat's out of juice.

my ds lite (used for thousands of beta tested homebrew) has scratches all over the screen. the center of the screen is really bad thanks to cooking mama and a crappy official stylus. the right hinge is cracked. the shoulder buttons have required precision dust clean outs from time to time. otherwise its working great! pretty cool for such a used system.

I picked up a second hand Mario Anniversary XL a while back and it was in very good condition despite the lack of case or proctectors that were used, it's almost like the guy used it a few times and then kept it in a display cabinet or something.

My older DS-Lite has a few scratches on the top casing and the bottom screen has some very light scratches due to a dodgy stylus before I had a screen protector, and the hinges are very stiff and the 'R' button doesn't work all that well..

I do have a perfect condition GB:Colour sitting around though if that counts for anything :)

Wow, these game units sound like a motley crew...

I use screen proectors and the screens on my release edition Dsi and release date Dsi XL are near perfect and they are used daily, many hours at a time... Also I never take them out without protective cases over them (nintendo will repair if they see no drop marks on it. Also, I have fixed dozens of hinges, on ds lites; they're so cheap I can't imagine why anyone would put up with not correcting that immediately.. The DSi plastic *near all buttons) is prone to absorbing the oils from fingers (thumb most often used digit) and any naptha based oils it gasoline, lighter fuel, and other apparently non toxic oils etc... will cause it to break down quickly.. solution? wash hands more frequently.
I wouln't think of using either my DSi, DSiXL. 3ds or even my two GB Micros without screen protection.. PS I NEVER carry these in my pocket, (only in my motorcycle side bags) yet take them everywhere. I just had a left button need replacing on the Micro, Nintendo charges as much as a used Micro to repair it. and scratches? what are they?

My ds lite Is nearly obliterated It's been through 2 aftermarket casings that the hinge just eventually grinds through and now the entire top peice is separated and the casement is severly abused, yet the ribbon cable is intact and the innards are nearly flawless. I'm currently awaiting parts because this would make a good gift, seeing as i have a 3ds now.

My Lite looks close to when I got it. Except there's some yellowing on the L & R from oils from my hands and smoke. Besides that it's in pretty great shape. I always kept it in a case.

then that's corrosion... it's a bit rusty too... and my slot-1 has a bit of this green thing (it come out with the cartridge). I don't know a careful way to clean the slot-1.

DS Lite: A few bottom screen scratches, but everything else is perfect.
3DS: I swear I will never let this thing get scratched. It's too perfect.
