I'm obsessed with flat earthers

Lately, I've been completely enthralled by the existence of people who genuinely believe the Earth is flat. Like, how are there seriously THIS many people who can't comprehend basic math and observation? It's seriously insane to me and I can't help but obsessively watch videos of these people trying to explain why they believe Earth is flat and I don't know why it's so intriguing. I guess just the scope of how large this group is has been something I simply can't wrap my mind around. Now it's my goal to meet one of these people in real life to disprove their terrible logic with elementary-level education. Which, this desire somewhat makes me think I'm being a jerk, but I'll also be potentially helping someone not look crazy in their future (If I could even convince them, which based on my "research," seems unlikely), so I'm fine with it. I don't know why this is a blog, but I felt weird about my obsession, so I thought I'd share, lol.

It has nothing to do with that. People want to feel special, Flat Earthers do so by convinving themselves they are the minority that knows the truth while the other 99% of the people are simply dumb sheeple that haven't been enlightened.

By the same logic, you'll never be able to convice most flat earthers, because if they let you convince them, they'd lose their identity, they'd lose what makes them special and stand out. That's why they'll vehemently deny any proof, claiming it's faked or a conspiracy.

I GOT IT! Flat-earthers are like trolls. If you ignore them, they’ll realize that they aren’t special anymore and they’ll go away eventually.

taking it slightly offtopic, it's not too hard to believe that there's people dumb enough to think the earth is flat, since there's still countless religions that think some dude drew up existence on a sketching pad or some shit

Humans can see objects in space that are billions of miles away (usually with just the naked eye), but they can't see an object that's only a tiny fraction of that away? If the earth was flat, you could see the lights of every major city while standing in any open field.

I mean, the hate on Colombus was only small part of the episode

@LiveLatios You can't disprove the existence of god, but we can and have disproved the earth being flat many times over and these guys still ignore the evidence.

I'm agnostic, but leaning towards god most likely not being real, since I find it hard to believe in something without evidence. Not ruling it out though.

I honestly felt just like you on a similar situation: I see many people on Facebook believeing in stupid sh*t that made me genuinely angry and stop using it.

I think most of the people who claim the Earth is flat, deep down, know how stupid it sounds but still support it, due to the agressive reactions other people have with them.
