Hello, Vita.

Took the plunge today with the money from my tax return. Bought a WiFi Vita, 2 games. a case, and an 8GB memory card for $311 total.

Some random thoughts:

Lots of decent apps, though why is the Vita trying to be an iTouch rather than it's own thing?
Bloody memory cards are too expensive, and should have been a standard format.
Not a lot of killer games just yet, but I can see devs both wary of the PSP history and the Vita hardware.
That whole "Near" thing on the Vita sounds way too much like a half-assed Streetpass clone.

I do like it, and spent a few hours playing my games. Not all my digital PSP games work on it, which I expected and hope fixed soon. I'm not worried about the homebrew scene until there's native Vita homebrew. Everything now is just like the DS scene. Nothing that can't run on an old DS can run on a 3DS, and where the PSP/Vita is concerned, I've got several PSPs for that. Even the PSPGo can run more homebrew than the VHBL exploit can on the Vita.

Homebrew on the Vita will happen, but right now, I've got other things to play.
