Fixing the SEGA CD, Part I

y'know how I was wailing about getting craigslist ripped off last week?

Yeah, I'm changing that.

I've been working on my SEGA CD all weekend and I've already made great progress in its repair.

For starters, I actually got the BIOS to boot up properly. As it turns out, the major problems at start were a misaligned disk drive and a detached ribbon cable. Both were a little testing to fix, but I was able to fix it up in the end.

The new problems I've got with the thing include a slightly misaligned drive (far easier to fix this time, just gotta screw around with it) as well as a constantly ejecting-closing disc drive. Apparently the fix for this is either a replacement of the rubber-band-like O ring belt or screwing around with the gears even more.

Tomorrow, I'll work on that.

Otherwise...progress! I'll get this sucker working yet.

Oh yeah. I also picked up a copy of dynamite headdy from CiB for $5. It's treasure, it's fun, it's amazing, what more can be said. Worth buying.
