Cool beans!

I was being nosey today and saw that the new neighbors brought home one of the newer-style Xbox 360s. Then the son started bringing a perfectly good old-style Xbox 360s out to the trash, so I went out there, stopped him, and asked if I could have it for $10.

So now I have an Xbox 360 and no games or controllers. It came with all the connection cords and a hard drive, though, so that's good. I was told it's already red-ringed a couple of times before, so I shouldn't play it for more than a couple of hours at a time, but I'm perfectly fine with that. I'm assuming the red-ring problem is why the kid didn't try to haggle for price.

Oh, Alessa and Chell just got back. They bought a couple of games, but had to borrow a controller from the neighbor. Apparently, the shop down the way doesn't stock controllers, so we'll have to go sometime to pick up a controller from Gamestop in the next town over (Alessa and Chell forgot to take more cash with them today).

Anyway, now we have...hmm...let's see... "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion GOTY Edition" and "Alan Wake." Two good games, I'm assuming. I was never too caught up with anything except Nintendo and Sony, since that's all we've had for forever. Interestingly enough, they got both games with the original cases and all of that. Right now, however, we're still trying to figure out how exactly this Xbox works, making our little avatars or whatever, checking out XBLA and all that...Just the usual first-time user nonsense.

If they keep blowing all their money like this, however, we'll never be able to buy that Wii so we can play Skyward Sword. I mean, Chell went as far as to TAKE FROM the bucket we've set up for this. It's ridiculous. I may have to get a LOCKED piggy bank and set it all up in my room where they can put money in but not take out.

So..Yeah. Any suggestions for future 360 games we should be getting? It would help out a lot. Alessa has a lot of suggestions, but only for XBLA games and not actual games on a CD. Chell doesn't really keep up with games besides Portal, too.

Edit) Well, the neighbors came over and explained that their son wasn't supposed to try to throw out the old Xbox. Then they said that since I had no idea and they assume they don't need it anymore, we could keep the Xbox. The controller too, since it came with the system and their son didn't need it. That was nice of them to understand like that.

Tales of Vesperia is about $20 or less these days.
Though that might red ring your 360 as you all play it 20 hours at a time.
Best 360 game i've got.
It's multiplayer too. In battles anyways.

Nier - one of the best game OSTs i've ever heard. Action RPG, gameplay is pretty fun, story is very interesting. Kaine is awesome. Takes about 3 playthroughs to hear all there is to hear about the story, and I believe 4 if you want to see every ending.
Should be cheap, it wasn't well received by "critics" but is amazing.

Dark Souls, maybe. Fun and hard as hell, but it's brand new so it's expensive.

The Darkness, it's the only FPS with a good/interesting storyline.

Guitar Hero 3 is surprisingly fun (and you CAN play it with a controller, I beat all but about 3 songs on Expert, 5 star, with a controller). The game itself should be dirt cheap.

Bayonetta - fun as hell action RPG. Should be cheap these days

Devil May Cry 4 - fun as hell action RPG, again. Should be very cheap these days.

Saints Row and Saints Row 2. Incredibly fun, and hilarious. They're like GTA, but actually fun.

That's all I got off the top of my head.

To add to Hells Malice list, try:
- Mass Effect
- Batman Arkham Asylum
- Alan Wake
- Vanquish
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Those are some pretty cool beans, adding to hell malice's list and edgedancer's list, I would add:
-Darksiders
-Dead or Alive 4
-Halo quadrilogy
-Bionic Commando: Re-armed
-Armored Core, perhaps?

Oh, we're definitely getting Tales of Vesperia. The Darkness sounds good, and so does Darksiders. I've been googling a little and came up with Mirror's Edge and Final Fantasy XIII. The neighbor kid recommended the Bioshock series to Chell while she was out checking the mail.

How's that list sound? Of course, we're going to be getting all of these after we're sure we have enough money for a Wii so we can play Skyward Sword, but we still need a definitive list to go by.

Oh right Bioshock.
Definitely, both are awesome. I just don't own them so I always forget to suggest them. Little Sisters are way too damn cute in the second game.

Mirrors Edge is pretty short, but it's probably so cheap now it's definitely worth it. Really fun.

FFXIII is pretty good, though i'd prioritize most other RPGs listed so far over it, lol.

Might also enjoy Assassin's Creed. The first gets a little repetitive. Story wise it's good, and it puts a lot more context into Assassin's Creed 2 (which is awesome). Brotherhood is good too, and the next game (Revelations, I think) is destined to be released soon.

Western RPGs are hit and miss with me, as I really don't like Mass Effect or Dragon Age, but Fallout: New Vegas is incredibly fun. I don't own it for 360 (got 'er on PC), but my friend does and doesn't seem to have any problems with it (it launched as very buggy). Pretty much no story, just pure exploration and post apocalyptic craziness. There is SOME story but like most, or all, western choose-your-own-path RPGs, it's more or less just filler.
