Gonna leave these here..
Yeah that new opening is the worst ever...
Not only does the song suck but the clip too.
The hand-signs-with-three part is pretty cool though.

But man I wish those fillers ended. Good thing the latest was with Shikamaru :D
He still is my favorite.

I think Oda does the flashbacks tremendously well. I can't think of any anime or manga that's made character backstories so heart-wrenching, not in Shounen at least.
Flashbacks are made just so that he can KEEP getting time and not advancing the story. I'm seriously fed up with a manga which doesn't give its readers a sense of advancement.

He keeps telling past things because he DOESN'T want to go in the future. The 3-years-Time-Skip has probably been forced on him by his publishers or something. I'm pretty sure he would NEVER have done it on his own advice.
There really aren't that many flashbacks, and for a Shounen- or even a Shoujo, it's pretty darn low on them.

Disregard the anime, we're talking mangas here :creep:

I don't think it matters either way, I can't name an anime/manga with more flashbacks than Naruto, though I really don't mind them too much.

A friend of mine just confirmed me (he owns all the volumes) that the flashbacks quantity has gotten ridiculous in the last years, and most of them are totally unneeded. He's an hardcore One Piece fan, so I rest my case with that, and end this obscene thread derailing with this. (we've gotten quite too far ;))

I'll read them all one day, and I'll open a thread with my definite impressions on it. Watch for it :P

But can this thread really survive in the main forum? It was meant to make fun of the new opening (which is odd, because Naruto is filled with good openings), and possibly Naruto, too, in an EoF-ish fashion.

Well, it's blogs. Almost everything is permitted in here. And the discussion is most certainly consistent enough to justify it to remain in here.

The anime sucks.

^I concur, read the manga instead.

He's not evil, he's an anti-hero. Well now he's not really an anti-hero, he's just kind-of a dick who wants revenge.

I actually thought the music in the opening was great though. Just some scenes threw me off like the flying bits, or the ninja party.
Oh and I don't like Sasuke like I used too, every time he appears, Kishimoto has to make him look cool/better then Naruto (our protagonist).

As much as I dislike Naruto, the openings are almost always good (Blue Bird being my favorite and Seishun Kyousoukyoku coming in a close second). The music is very good, it's the actual content that's...yeah.

Just be glad that no one mentioned the horrible dubbing 4Kids did for One Piece or Naruto.

Take Sanji from One Piece for example, in the 4Kids dub, he sounds like a mentally retarded person with cotton balls in his mouth. Either that, someone who had a little too much alcohol.

Zoro, Luffy, etc. all sound horrible. And I thought the English voices in Pokemon were bad.

In the Naruto crap dub, Naruto always yells "Believe it!" when there's clearly no way to translate
「だってばよ!」(datte ba yo) as it has no real meaning, aside from adding a lot of emphasis to the statement in question.

That's the fine line between the anime here and in Japan; Japan puts effort into their voice acting, whereas here they hire anyone random person, who usually suck in comparison.

Agreed. I like the story though. Although I hate the fillers. Of all the big 3, I prefer One piece( I agree with what you said before, flashbacks are done incredibly well. Story takes time but I don't find it bad. Although Oda will have to think carefully of the end for it to not ruin the series.)

I don't see why people hated the "Believe it!" quote he stopped using it after the second arc (At least in the English dub). Seriously though, I to much don't care for Shippuden, now Naruto part 1 was great. And One Piece has a bad rep, what with the 4kids dub, Viz not acknowledging it like it does Naruto, and so on. I really don't count it in as one of the Big 3 because personally, Bleach sucks and Naruto is right there with it.

I don't like either Naruto (anymore), but I agree, the original was better imo. And Naruto vs. Sasuke still remains to be one of the best fights I've ever seen. Goku vs. Vegeta part 2 should have been that epic.

Who watches anime in Dub anyway?

The only anime whose dub was good was Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin)

I find the One piece anime quite good, down to the VA's, especially Zoro's.
