I need a job! =/

I haven't worked in the past 6 months, maybe I was studying and such so I couldn't be bothered. Now my exams are over I desperately need a job. I've tried in the past 3 weeks and no luck, it's so tight.

Same here!
I worked in Sainsburys last summer, and I can get back if I want to, but too lazy lol.

Have you tried Burton, Peacocks, Next, Primark?

I know. I'm in the situation. It's really tough. However keep trying. Eventually you'll find one ^_^

You got higher chances for Primark :) They are recruting.
Also try Tescos lol.

Oh whats wrong with McDonalds?

I worked in Burgerking in the kitchen, and bro.. it WASNT funny lol. SO much washing up, my skin was messed up :P!

Try your local JJB Sports. If it's anything like my store they're always hiring. Pay's not great but the work is hard :P Just pray you get a better manager than the cock-wipe I have to work for.

@Tanveer: Primark lol I'll give it a try lmao

No it's just I have standards :rofl2:

You must have enjoyed working at BK ;D

@Blaze163:

Lol, my current boss (He owns the gas station that I'm employed in.) used to work at a car wash.

That's another thing, apply at gas stations. Most people don't think about it.

My company just purchased a business in London. I will transfer and hire you. Interested in the financial industry?

Search temp jobs in London on there, dude. Easy as hell. A lot of shops do their recruitment for summer phase a fair bit before exams are over - you gotta get in there early!

Loads of shops round my way have all done their big recruiting periods a few weeks ago. I managed to get a part-time position at my local GAME. Chances are, if a shop doesn't have a sign in the window then they're not hiring. Sadly, the days of being able to whack a CV in anyway and end up getting hired are pretty scarce.

We've had a lot of people coming into the shop asking if we're hiring, but no sign no hire unfortunately.

Sometimes, with stores, you just have to be lucky as places will advertise if someone leaves or gets promoted. That happened with me - two people left, so they were hiring.

Places like HMV and WH Smith hire through their websites. Often quite good practice to write down all of the main chain stores you can think of in your area, go onto their websites and see if they have a careers/job vacancies section and tick them off as you check/apply.

Also, the Job Centre website is pretty good. Some decent jobs do get posted on there quite a lot, and it isn't just for people who are signed onto JSA so anyone can search and use it to find work.

If you're at university and not school, being a cleaner of the halls during the summer is excellent work. Great pay more often than not (my Uni were offering ~£7/hour when I applied during my study), not too taxing or gross (as students generally are required to clean up before leaving or face a bill for damage). Often a lot of time to chill and not take the job too seriously, but obviously still hard work while you're at it.

Also, bars and pubs are always hiring. The work is always shit, hard, and the environment generally quite bad (drunks aren't fun when you're not one - who'd have thought?) so people are always leaving. That said, if you're willing to work hard and you want/badly want the monies then get on it. Pay is usually above minimum wage (currently £5.93, going up to £6.04 in the autumn) because they don't people to leave.

That's your easiest avenue with a lot of shops having hired up for the summer.

All I can think of off the top of my head bro. Good luck in the job hunt!

You serious? Yeah I definitely would be and if indeed this is real what is the job role? :)

@Muckers: Thanks for the huge list of tips, must have taken you a lot of time typing that out. I appreciate it.

@Tanveer: That's cool, if there's any vacancies up for grabs at your local Sainsburys, let me know. ;p

Bro, try online on the Sainsburys site. Trust me you are bound to get lucky sooner or later.
So many FRESHIES with VISA problems are getting jobs .. like those DESI students :P. If Sainsburys get someone local(not with visa problems, no working restrictions, good english speaker), they wont say no to you ;).

If freshies can do it, WE CAN DO IT BETTER!

It is beyond my imagination how freshies get jobs, yeah I know man. It should be easy, I just haven't tried hard enough.

Btw what other language do you speak, eh? :P

G
Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Punjabi, German, Latin, Gujrati(not too well).. thats all as far as I can remember lol.

Keep on searching on the sainsburys online recruitment thing, for different areas/deparments/stores.

Once you see there is a vacancy, quickly take the test. If you get answers "sort of" correct, they will call you for interview.
Calling for interview = getting the job! Speaking from experience :P

There are very few people I just have just an immense dislike of and he's one of those very few people, the only other example is Gene Simmons. My musician uncle on my mother's side of the family actually met Gene once during some event and said he was the most unpleasant person to be around.
