Flea markets

So today I went with my dad to a massive flea market at a race track. Usually I don't like going to them because I always look for specific things, then get disappointed when I find nothing. Well, today this flea market had about 200 vendors, and I actually found things I was looking for. Picked up a Dreamcast (2000 unfortunately, so I can't burn that ludicrously hard-to-find Skies of Arcadia) along with a Sega memory card because it came with a third-party one with no LCD screen. I also got a mega memory card for the old N64 my dad picked up a while back, which is a LOT better than no memory card. :P 4 memory cards in one, switch between them with a little switch. Finally, I got a great-condition copy of Wind Waker, a game I've been searching for for quite a while now. I've built a pretty impressive collection of Gamecube games, and have basically everything worth owning except the Metroid Prime games and Pokemon Colosseum.

Right now the Dreamcast and N64 are useless though. No Dreamcast games at all (I was limited on funds and only looking for Skies of Arcadia today, to no avail), and the only N64 games I own came with the N64: South Park and some racing game, neither of which are very good. So, my wanted list next time I go looking for retro games:

Dreamcast:
Skies of Arcadia
Evolution (both games)
Time Stalkers
Sonic Adventure

N64:
The Zeldas
Banjo-Kazooie
Castlevania 64
Not sure what else, I'll just keep my eye out for decent N64 games.

Pretty good day, now time to go play Wind Waker. :yaywii:

lucky :glare: Where I used to live, there was a flea market near a closed movie theatre, and it was AWESOME. I used to get all of my used games there. I moved to Leesburg, Georgia, and the Flea market there has cheap chinese products and livestock o.o

Yeah, finding video games in a flea market takes some patience. At that flea market there were four vendors selling video games, and one had insane prices. ($40 for a used Dreamcast? No thanks) Every single other stall was either jewelry or stupid knick-knacks, basically. We later went to this indoor trade center place and they had a TON of videogame vendors. They all had Dreamcast games, but none had Skies of Arcadia. Only two had even heard of it, and said it was rare. :( I'm going to be searching flea markets and thrift stores pretty much every weekend until I find that game, because I don't really want to spend $25+ on ebay for a decade-old game, regardless of how good it is.

There's a flea market every sunday close to where I live, and there are a couple vendors selling a ton of video game stuff. Hundreds of NES, N64, GBA, GB/C games, systems and accessories. I was excited until I saw the price, most generic NES games were $10, the good ones were $20+. They did have a GBA for $35, but I held off and thats about what you can get one used on Amazon. I think garage sales are a better place for good deals, because it's more about getting rid of the crap then making a huge profit. You just have to hit a lot of them to find anything good.

Yeah I love Flea markets. You gotta haggle your way to good prices, yo. ;)

Also, Castlevania 64 is horrible in my opinion lol. both of them. >_>

But hey, to each his own. My best friend likes it too.

I love flea markets too. Or rather car boot sales as we call them here. There's one across the road from where I work every Saturday morning, and I always find something good there. From reasonably rare PS2 games for a few quid to a few obscenely rare trinkets I've picked up over the years. Love 'em. Also the only decent place to track down retro games for things like my N64 or even the mighty SNES. Getting games for that outside of eBay is usually impossible but I got my boxed copy of UN Squadron at a car boot sale years ago, near mint in the box with the manual, for a pound. I've seen it go on eBay for about 35 quid every now and then so quite the bargain.

I actually have Castlevania 64. It sucks. I would send it to you, but I see little reason to pay postage costs on inflicting harm on a fellow human when I can beat my subordinates at work about the head with a stick and save my money.

If it's that bad, I think I'll pass on Castlevania 64.

I forgot to mention, I got an amazing deal on the Dreamcast I picked up. $15 for the console with cables, a controller, and a third-party memory card. I only paid $18 for it total, because I wanted a first-party memory card for the LCD screen. I found out this Dreamcast was made in January of 2000, meaning it's early enough to run backups, but the stock of CD-Rs in my house are all 700MBs, so I'll just be pirating small games like Sonic Adventure and MvC. I'll be scouring flea markets and thrift stores to get the games too big to be bothered with burning, like Shenmue, Time Stalkers, Skies of Arcadia (really need to find this game >.>), and Grandia II. Since I burned a Utopia boot disc, if there are any good PAL-only DC games (that I can somehow find despite being in the US), I can run those too.

The vendors that are clearly purchasing and reselling their consoles charge way too much. There were two Dreamcasts at one stall, everything was there and they appeared to be in perfect condition, but $40 was too much for a decade-old console imo. The one I got for $15 looks more beaten-up than the other vendor's did, but it works just fine, and that's all I need. Basically, I love videogame sellers that are actual gamers getting rid of their old stuff, not people reselling to turn a quick buck.
