My Dad is in the Hospital

hey guys/gals. my dad thought he was having a heart attack yesterday, so my mom rushed him to the hospital. I don't think he had a heart attack, but we found out that he needs major surgery. they poured some dye in his veins to find where there was blockage. I'm very worried about him. I haven't slept worth a crap overnight. I'm trying to sleep now. :(

they had to put a stent in. his arteries were clogged to where it was like those of a 90-year old. he almost died, but now it's looking better. he may not need surgery anymore, but I'm still a little hazy on the details.

Hopefully everything will be fine, you didn't mention what they found but heart surgery has gotten very safe especially over the last 20 years, I think even a bypass is around 98-99% safe.

just found out today that my dad did in fact have a heart attack, two in fact. he has to decide on the 19th of June if he wants surgery. they have to break the breast bone, which is supposed to be a pain like no other. he'll be laid up for six months after that. the second heart attack should've killed him as it was severe enough to kill about 90% of the time. he needs to quit smoking, but he won't, which pisses me off. he's been given a second chance in life, and he's not taking it.

It is your Father´s Life and if he will not change anything....it is his Choice. He is old enough.
You can still learn from him, please be not angry on him.
In his Life he maybe have experienced Situations that made him what he is today.

Love him,as the Man you know - your Father.
Please accept him as he is.And if his Decision is not the "good" for his Life.....please try to learn to live with it.:)

Please do not live now with an "angry Look".....
Enjoy every Minute you have with him.It is still your Father, that Guy who gaves you maybe many, many wonderful Moments in your Life. Now you can give him such Moments,if you want.

I wish your Dad and his Son all the Best for their Lifes.:)

Breaking breastbone is actully the safer way to go vs catheterization in many cases, as I said before heart bypass are relatively safe now. My grandfather delayed and delayed asking for catheterization, and he is fine, but he would've been better off in the long run going through his breast bone.

i see, 213lbs is far abose obesity, and such weight will cause many serious consequence like, bone fragility, heart problems and higher blood pressure, hope he will be okay and if he survives, ur family should partake him a balanced diet and a looooooooot of daily walking.

the last 2 processes are way more efficient to help ur father. good luck.
