i updated my switch; and this is why

the games,

got bored of waiting for homebrew and felt like I was never really enjoying it to the extent I would have liked.
I will time travel back in 7 or 8 years to see if anything changes

(I updated my consoles to 4.0.1 after waiting months for anything new (hacking wise.) for anything releasing)

Updated my switch long ago past 3.0. I really don't want Homebrew on my switch. I can emulate GameCube games fine on my phone and have a phone clip for my PS4 controller (also can emulate on laptop too), plus there is so many amazing games out there on the switch right now and a bunch of upcoming games too.

Alright. Assume for one minute that Switch's emulators are 100% complete and can emulate up to gamecube.
You mean to tell me that you are going to sacrifice every new game from Odyssey and up just to play me Gamecube games on the go?
I fail to see the benefit in that. Unless there is a really nice thing that I can do on my Switch with homebrew which I can't do on a home computer, then I fail to see the point in it.

Now, I have a much different opinion on 3DS since there is no downside to homebrew at the moment because B9S is so easy to get and works up to 11.6; however, the Switch is going to be limited to 3.0.0 for homebrew for a while, and that isn't worth it to me.

wow. so mature. most bluetooth controllers don't drain your battery that much. i always have my bluetooth on for my watch, so it doesn't affect my battery at all

You guys talk about the Switch as if it is overflowing with games at the moment.
Odyssey is just one game, what else is there that's exclusive and interesting to it?
You guys will be waiting a long time too for more original games, Nintendo hasn't said anything about any other upcoming AAA games, nor if we'll see something up to mid 2018.

But sure, go ahead and play your abundant games you can't play nowhere else, hope Odyssey lasts you that long.
The "you can play those games on other consoles/systems" applies to the Switch library too, not just for emus.

After some of the lovely comments I've seen from some people on here lately, I'd say that the switch scene is going to be a whole lot worse than the 3ds scene.

I just want to add to this, you can always play odyssey or whatever later. Its not going away, but if homebrew doesnt progress past 3.0 I'd like to see you find a switch in 2-3 years thats 3.0 or lower. I have no problem waiting for 2-3 years for an emunand solution or to get a used switch cheap to play new games. Glad I have my 3.0 to fuck around and experiment with at the start of the hack wave. Maybe I'll discover something cool myself.

But coming to the section dedicated to hacking a console, just to say that YOU dont care cause *list all retarded reasons that only a person who never even touched or read about any other console exploit ever would say* is just mindblowing.

But hey... guys, check it out, its TOTES not going be like every other console... we are ONLY getting emulation and will be TOTALLY stuck without playing the newest games... wink wink

completely agree, in my opinion odyssey isn't worth the update whatsoever, we have zelda on 3.0.0.

Right. Now what can you do with homebrew on the Switch that you can't on the computer or a mobile device?

ROM hacks are about the only thing that would attract me.

And there will not be a solution to play newer games or use emuNAND on a 3.0 Switch because of eFuses.

I'm just getting mine and will keep it outdated, specially because it's the perfect handheld emulation hub imo. But I intend on buying another Switch in the future so I can stay up to date on that one.

You also forgot that Switch has eFuses, unlike 3DS, Wii U, Wii, or DS. So while it may not be impossible to work around, it will take a while.
