i updated my switch; and this is why

the games,

got bored of waiting for homebrew and felt like I was never really enjoying it to the extent I would have liked.
I will time travel back in 7 or 8 years to see if anything changes

k thx bye,
(I updated my consoles to 4.0.1 after waiting months for anything new (hacking wise.) for anything releasing)

I personally don't see the point in staying on 3.0 to do (most) things a smart phone or a pc can do. I bought the switch for games, not for it to collect dust while waiting for homebrew/piracy. This is the one Nintendo console I do not plan to use for piracy.

Homebrew != piracy. Installing a software exploit to a console isn't making an illicit copy of a game.

Agreed. Even if homebrew does come out soon, it won't work on the latest firmware versions, and to me that's just not worth it.

I really do fail to see any point to homebrew that does not include piracy.
Many things Raspberry Pi can do a lot better
Some things Nintendo will have an official solution to in future patches (that might just come out before the home brew does)
Cheats and hacks are unneeded if you take the time to actually learn how to play
And if you can still justify playing ROMs for games that have been lost to the depths of times (IE: not currently on the eShop) then there's the Wii U and smartphones.

I've said it before and I said it again, 90% of all homebrew is for piracy. The other 10% is for making piracy easier (FTP clients, Freeshop, etc)

Replace it with Switch lol,the same reason why PSP sold 80M yet PC can do it better

You're a traitor to the homebrew establishment. Kill him!!!!!!!

(Meanwhile, moneychild has been updating his console religiously in secret so that he can enjoy the latest games and the ability to play splatoon. Most importantly, he updated so he can play MarioKart with his friend who brought a switch just to play with him.)

You fail to see that the main things that are created by homebrew anymore are tools to allow piracy. I have yet to see anybody praising a 3DS homebrew that doesn't allow some sort of game dumping or piracy.

Went thru a similar thought process earlier on. Got my Switch in April/May sometime, thought through whether it was worth waiting for homebrew, concluded that it absolutely was not, and proceeded to update ever since.

  • Homebrew will take a very long time, meanwhile the Switch has a slew of fantastic current and upcoming games
  • Homebrew won't work on later firmwares, so even piracy will be restricted to low-FW games
  • Anything homebrew can do, I probably can do/have already done on my phone (i.e. emulators)
  • No online play. I love Splatoon, so...
Just makes zero sense to hold off. No homebrew on this console for me.

People that are accessing a section of gbatemp exclusively for HACKING the switch, and trying to justify updating the console to a non-exploitable firmware was the right decision and they totally dont regret it....

LUL ROHAN WAS RELEASED YESTERDAY AKA USERLAND CODE EXECUTION AKA HOMEBREW LUL
Now explain to me why I should care about something that was released today that can do less than what my computer can do, when I could update my switch and enjoy it.

um, perfect emulation box.

Experimental Emulator + A very limited selection of games || Solid Emulator (Computer) + All possible games

I still don't understand the point.
