Bye bye 3DS

Vita fans might be happy to know my Vita has replaced my 3DS as the console I carry around with me. Ran out of games to play on my 3DS ages ago, only carried it around for Streetpass. I bought Spyro and Abe's Oddysee from PSN after failing to get Adrenaline working and am quite enjoying playing them on my lunch break :-) Meanwhile my poor 3DS now lives in the odds and ends drawer.

Todderbert: I used to own a hacked psp. Bought it at release day. It sucked big time, so I gave it to a friend. But The PSViTA is a completly different story. The screen, the buttons, the games, just everything went near perfect this time. Its a shame the PSViTA didnt sell well. We will probably never see a PSP3 :/

@Quantumcat For a short play on the go I recommend Downwell. Nice little game.

My hands hurt really fast when playing with the Vita. God bless the man who developed DS4Vita!

Downwell is too fast, we need slow mode. :P

@Most-Wanted I wear glasses, i know i have seeing problems. Honestly i think the 3d + or head tracking thing doesn't help much, i think wearing glasses is the issue, it has hard time tracking eyes or head movement. I'm not perfectly sure how it works but I believe the camera tracks you, but is also means light must be in the room with enough to see you. Whatever it is, i can see 3d, i don't have a problem with seeing it, just focusing it and keeping it consistent is the issue.

"Hold the system 10 inches away from your face, look directly at the screen, adjust slider accordingly" Is so much work and arms get tired, I am near sighted, i can't see distant things well, the reason why i wear glasses, the system isn't big like a tv, the resolution is like 400X280 which is pathetic, and the bottom screen is smaller. Vita has a 900X560 or something like that i believe, but the screen size is just small for holding it 10 inches away from your face. I think any hand held device is just uncomfortable to use prolong period of time, but gladly nintendo switch has console dock mode to keep it balance of mobile/console and biggest screen for a game device i seen so far. :)

This is most of the reason why i just don't like mobile games so much, it was more of a seeing and comfort problem, but later smartphones with touch screens added to the reason why i dislike it more. I like games, pressing buttons, not tapping glass or plastic. :P

I winder how you did it, i keep finding games to play on the 3ds, most of the ones i wanted to play on the vita came out for pc rendering it useless for me, ended up selling it.

Yep... I wish I had some new games to play though! I am playing Ocarina of Time again and 999 (intending to play VLR and ZTD again too)

...you came back. I won't look at you with a smug look. I won't even say "I told you so."

I just want you to take care of the kids.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

  • Veho @ Veho:
    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

  • Veho @ Veho:
Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    but that's a long shot

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
