Correct me if I'm wrong but the Youtube app for the Wii uses h.264 for its videos, doesn't it?
And it uses the 360p setting as max resolution.
Meaning if I upload a 720x480 video Youtube will encode it to 640x480 as max res, however the app will instead use the lower 400x360 version.
But for widescreen videos that are uploaded in HD will get a 360p encode of 640x360
In WiiMC if you change Youtube quality to high(854x480) then WiiMC will use the 640x480 encode because there is no 854x480 for that video.
My strife here is I don't actually know or have a way to prove that it uses 400x360 for fullscreen videos, except it looks better in WiiMC.
The app should look for a 640x* encode instead of jumping to 360p if available.
Naturally since it uses h.264 I figured sync problems could happen but even in WiiMC no sync issues were encountered.
