^^ the above one worked on my wii, (it was safe) but gave a black screen after loading the .dol.
Anyone willing to try making their own retroarch forwarder?

The MAME forwarder can be used as a base (SDLMame-Wii v11 - DMAA TTZMS) as it has already sounds and banner & icon in place (fba plays mame games) and it works perfectly, of course.

So, should i try injecting the boot.dol from retroarch-wii into that wad with CustomizeMii 3.11?
Anyone who has made forwarders before please enlighten me... Thank you

So um got a pre-owned Wii, modded it and am now looking for forwarder channels for the various emulators......this is a bit of a zombie thread so I think I'm missing something obvious. Kind of posting because it's been a very long time since I was last here. Ah I signed up in the days of the GBA ....

I'm trying to use these with a usb drive instead of sd card. The only one that loads from USB is Wii2600. What am I doing wrong?

Note that all my channels have been modified by me in some shape or form
(at very least changing the forwarder or adding a splash screen),
but they were created by combinations of other peoples work.


Installation Instructions for Beginners:

-Copy the filename.wad to SD:\WAD (or USB:\WAD)

-Open your preferred Wad Manager via the homebrew channel

-Make sure you've saved WadManager in the following place
(SD or USB:/apps/WadManager/boot.dol)

-When you start Wad Manager, choose a fakesigned IOS to use to install other IOSs (249 or 36 are common choices).
-Choose to leave Nand Emulation Disabled.
-Choose the SD card or the USB2 device (depending where you saved the wads).

-Browse your device for the wad/channel you want to install, then hit "A" twice to install it.
(Note: YAWMM & MMM support batch installing and uninstalling files)

-If you've installed a forwarder channel, it will launch the application under the paths I've specified. So forwarder channels also require you to download that homebrew application and save it to at least one of the paths specified. For example, the Visual Boy Advance Forwarder Channel requires you download the homebrew application from here, and save it to at least one of the following locations:

S/apps/vbagx/boot.dol
S/apps_emulators/vbagx/boot.dol
USB:/apps/vbagx/boot.dol
USB:/apps_emulators/vbagx/boot.dol

-If it is not saved in one of the above locations, the forwarder channel will just return to the main system menu.

-If I do not say that a channel is a forwarder channel, it means it is not a forwarder channel and the channel will still work without having an SD card or USB hard drive connected to the Wii (examples: Priiloader Shortcut Channel, BootMii Switch Channel, etc.)

MPlayer_CE v0.76 Forwarding is Fixed!

As seen in the above video, I can launch mplayer_ce v0.76 successfully, and it also exits without stack dumping.
To get this to work properly, download the mplayer.dol (from the MPlayer_CE Fix links below), rename it boot.dol and use it to replace the existing boot.dol in your mplayer_ce (or mplayer) folder(s).

I when i try to run off usb drive it takes make back to the main wii menu. I can get wii2600 pac-man forwarder to load games but all other forwarders i cannot get to load

Could be your hard drive is slow to initialize? Have you tried launching twice quickly successively?

Also I don't know what this pac man forwarder is, it certainly isn't one of mine. Since it works for you though, and if you're technically inclined, you can try extracting the boot.dol from the working forwarder, modifying the path with a hex editor, then injecting it into a different forwarder and in theory it should work for you the same as the original pac man forwarder does. To extract and inject dols from forwarder wads you can use customize mii.

BTW the forwarders here are based on the latest and greatest forwarder code, so I'm not sure why it's not working for you.... Hmmm, I wonder, do you have an optimal soft mod configuration? Make sure you have the right IOSs and what not installed. Use modmii's main wizard or its syscheck updater to verify. This may allow you to get my forwarders to work without any custom modifications.

It works with the sd card to launch forwarder and I can change the path in settings to usb and it will load from the usb but without the sd it fails to load

I can always load games and covers using forwarders from sd but for USb I have to still have an sd card installed. Can I just boot all forwarders from the usb with no sd card? I open fceugx using a forwarder by mastershoes load on sd it open my games and covers. I try just usb no sd says no sd card

hey there, wanted to thank you for all this hard work. i'm trying to make some forwarder wads for my single rom loaders. what's a safe way to choose a title ID for the forwarder wads? i usually just go with something that is similar to the game name (such as SSBX for smash remix), but what's a good method on choosing the title ID for the forwarder wad? thanks again

The are some rules to follow if u also want the channel to run properly on vWii, I don't recall them right now but there's a batch file I helped joostinonline with that he shared here at some point to convert forwarders for vWii that handles that logic

Otherwise if just for wii, just make sure the title ID doesn't overlap with others on the console or that u plan to install, then doesn't really matter
