Heres what I get for every game I try freethewads before:

Installing ticket (Nameofgame) ... OK!
Installing title (Nameofgame) Error! (ret = -2011)
Removing tickets... OK!

ERROR: Could not install WAD! (ret = -2011)

I can install these games with no prob without freethewads, but they give me an error if I try to run them since im on a japanse console.

Could someone out there have the answer?

I have the same problem as well. Shortening the name of my wad to a.wad certainly did not help either. I tried both USA and PAL versions of Opera Internet Channel Wiishop and it doesn't work.

After using freethewads using cmd, my wads cannot be installed by the wad installer too.

Anyone can help?

I'm getting that same problem (also a japanese wii user).

For a list of what WiiWare games are compatible with your region, visit http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=89964

Using Freethewads, you can pretty much get any WiiWare game to work with all NTSC-U and PAL consoles, assuming you have Wii Software version 3.2 or higher. There is a list of what's been dumped from what region.

Also, Freethewads works on a lot of VC games, but not all of them. It's recommended that you download the VC game version that corresponds with your Wii's region (PAL for PAL, NTSC-U for NTSC-U, etc).

Hm, i used freethewads 3 months ago to unlock "World of Goo" to play it on my PAL-Wii, and it worked really fine.
But it seems that it doesnt work with "Sandy Beach". I can install the wad, but ater launching the game in the menu, the screen keeps black and wiimote is turning off...
Any solution?

I tried to convert The Last Ninja from NTSC to PAL and it came up with the Freeeeeeeeedom message.
It installs OK with wad manager but now it just reboots the Wii.

much easier!

how to make a wad region free?

open the RUN option from your start menu...
type CMD in and hit enter....
a DOS like windows should pop up...
drag and drop the FREETHEWADS into the DOS LIKE CMD WINDOW
wink.gif

next hit space bar---> 1 TIME
now drag and drop the .WAD file you want to be region free into the DOS LIKE WINDOW and hit enter while the DOSLIKE WINDOW is your "active window" and it will declare the word
FREEEEEEEEEEEEDDOOOOOMMMMMM to confirm your region patch has worked

works fine on my PAL Wii
patching and installing just took me 30 seconds

An even easier way which works perfectly..
Drop the wad file onto freethewads.exe and it's done..

Spoke to Tom Fulp the other day, if he can find his old Newgrounds site content like the mini Flash animations from the 2000's that played on the portal.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
So far no response, but he did say that he'll find them. Wayback Machine doesn't have em.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, atleast the 1999 versión of pico's school is avaliable (the difference between it, the 2006 versión and the 2016 versión is that the speed of the game depends of the speed of your computer and that it had the og soundtrack)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Another being Pico VS Bear, the original 1999 version before Jim Henson filed a DMCA takedown.

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
The 2006 versión was made when the flash portal was made
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Many people thought it was lost, but was discovered that he hid it on the same page.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, although the "secrets" system where the game was has been removed. Also pico vs uberkids had a netplay versión that was shutdown, although the swf file has been found
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Nope. There are two download buttons on the same page, where you can download the original under a file called "bear.exe". "bear2.exe", however, is the updated game in a Flash projector. P.s. this was on the archived Pico page from 2000.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's been there for a long time, too. People who search for lost media don't look hard enough lmao.

@SylverReZ, also the pico 2 demos used to be only for the newgrounds patrons but they are on internet archive too (https://archive.org/download/picos_school_2)

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Iirc the demos were removed from newgrounds in 2022
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, or well only the demo with mindchamber's style was on newgrounds

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Fun fact @SylverReZ: iirc one of the goals on the fnf Kickstarter stated that pico 2 would be finished but the Kickstarter didnt get enough money for that goal to be fullfiled
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, FNF sucks, their community is toxic as hell.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@SylverReZ its a single player game
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, Yea but it has a shitton of mods with their own songs and stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, and quite a lot of people involved in those mods get cancelled
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Newgrounds wasn't the birth of FNF; rather, it was games where you beat up celebrities and parodies.
