Hacking Using R4i Gold 3DS on 2DS

Hey Guys

Here is the puzzle

I have a Chinese R4i 3DS card ( Rev 6). It works perfectly with my Older DSL , apparently running Wood 1.28 Kernel.

I have since purchased a new 2 DS , which came with 8.1.0-19 firmware

I inserted the the RSi Gold Flash card into my New 2DS , however it did not work . After some googling I found this guide , which mentions that many ( Including R4I Gold ) FlashCards will still work

According to the webpage in link , in order for the Flashcard to work with 2DS/3DS the R4I Gold card needs to be upgraded to Wood 1.62 and along with a Patch ( r4igold_3DS62_Patch) , which brings us to the following page :

I also noted that the Patch file needs to be applied to the R4I while using a Nintendo DSL or DSI , as the 2DS has a incompatible firmware

So I updated the R4 I Gold card with the Wood 1.62 , Then I popped it into my old DS , by simply unpacking the Wood files to the SD Micro card . I also put the r4igold_3DS62_ patch file on the sd card

The wood update was successful , I then attempted to load the patch file , I ejected the flash card ( as instructed in readme file ) reinserted , then pressed a to upgrade .



I keep getting Failed , I have been unable to use the patch at all

So then I tried Wood 1.64

The 1.64 wood also worked , however the patch also once again failed ......


I also noticed that although the Wood software updates , the SpongeBob Icon remains the same :

just use rxtool

If you use RxTools or a CFW to boot up the system, then use FBI to install the bluecardfix.cia file from gateways latest firmware file. That will let the 2DS recognize the r4i.

Edit: You need to install the bluecardfix.cia file to the sysnand, not your emunand.

I can appreciate that RX can make the 2DS recognise the R4i , however I want to be able to use the R4i with friends and family's 3ds/2ds consoles , so updating the card is the way foreward in an ideal world

Seems like this card , just will not update , there is posts about cutting a track on the PCBA - would this help

I'm not going to try to convince you of anything. If you rather spend money then do a little research, then go for the DSTwo Plus
