My brother is visiting and he has his old 2DS that has RXTools set up as his CFW set up.

I know it's a pretty outdated option so I was looking into moving into normal Luma 3DS so he can use DSi software he wants to use.

Problem is, I'm pretty out of the loop as to how one should make the switch and I don't want to mess anything up. Is there a good guide to follow what steps to take?

There shouldn't be any issues in keeping his save data from the move to Emunand to Sysnand, right? As long as the transfer process is followed correctly, right?

I found this thread, but I still want to make sure what to do correctly.

First, follow this guide, having in account the model of the console and the actual SysNand firmware version:

https://3ds.hacks.guide/

(B9S must be installed on SysNand, not on EmuNand... then you must be sure of load SysNand only to perform the installation. If you don't know how, then turn on your console with the SD card out, and when the console shows the HOME Menu reinsert the SD and change the theme of your console for another basic one).

Finally, when you have hacked your console with B9S + Luma CFW, perform this another guide in order of move/inject the actual EmuNand on SysNand:
