'TV' display borders possible in Nestopia (or any NES emu)?

I haven't messed with PC emus for a while, but tonight I updated nestopia to the current version and messed around with it until I managed to eliminate the screen tearing and get scanlines and etc. pretty much to where I'm happy with the look, except ... the emu of course displays the full rom image, which includes borders that were never visible on a real TV. This is not an issue for most games, but with Kirby or SMB3 for example, it's an eyesore and a half.

Has anyone managed to mess with the screen settings in nestopia, or any other good nes emu, so the display simulates what was actually visible on a good ol' 1986 CRT television? If you've got a formula for achieving this, care to share?

Or am I asking for the impossible?

ok, nestopia doesn't have an option called 8 pixel clipping, but you can manually do it. Actually the top/bottom 8 pixels are already clipped out by default, but the horizontal resolution is set to show the full 256 pixels. I took out 8 pixels on each side as well, and all is good in SMB3. Thanks.
