ROM Hack Translation Project Translation-Localization of Animal Crossing: New Horizons to Portuguese (PT-BR)

Hello, guys!

I'd like to introduce to you our project of translation of Animal crossing: New Horizons!

Years ago, I wondered what would be like to play this game in my native language, I even tried myself to do that with "City Folk" when I was naive, I was quick shot down when I saw all those lines and I knew nothing about coding. But now, I ended up in a group of passionated animal crossing lovers that decided to team up to translate this new game! We want to bring acessibily to those don't know a second language or just making the game funnir since massive texts might get the player tired and dmotivate them.

We decided to use Chat GPT 4 to help us out, since it would be facilitate and acelerate the translating and keep all the texts in the same pattern/style.
So, we would love you guys to join our journey in making this project reach an end. We are prioritizing high quality and group work.

We have a discord group were you can join to help us to translate, code, suggestions, review all the translations made from the bots.

All the code is on GitHub were you can check the progress, to gain acess, ask our mod, send your github username to him and your acess will be granted. On our discord you can download what have been translated so far for free, but consider donate since we are sponsoring/bankrolling the AI to lend a hand

If you have suggestions on how to make the process easier and cheaper, please, feel free to speak, we are open to any new ideas that might pop up.

it's the first time I've seen someone in the scene community put a value on a fan translation.. they usually just ask for donations with no obligations towards a goal. but no hate, I just want to understand.

As far as I remember of the details, they're using GPT-4 paid API to speed up the translation step, due to the many files and massive texts that the game have, but they don't have the enough money to pay for it

Using chat gpd as a translation tool is such a bad decision. Just play with Google translate with your camera on if you want that robotic experience. Translation is complex and requires human brains, discussions, etc.
