Not saying you are, but that seem a bit impatient or a sense of want to rush the game.

I'm not impatient, it's just incredibly boring to have to travel across the same area time after time for no real reason. It's bad game design. I want my game to flow like a normal game, not be held down by these lame sequences of boring travel.

I never said I liked it. In fact I said I liked the train better than the boat..... I was merely saying the use of transportation is a concept we see start in OoT and continue on in more titles. Im not sure what you are saying 'no' to aswell.

They could just implement fast travel options earlier in the game or just easily. It's stupid to have to run all the way across a big set of plains or ocean that you've crossed plenty of times before just to get to another place. Eventually you get some type of fast travel (like the Ocarina in OoT/MM or Midna's abilities in Twilight Princess) but even then it's not like Fallout where you can open a map, click place you've been before, and warp there instantly. Traveling across the same area to create some "atmosphere" is really, really stupid. I already got enough atmosphere the first time I did it, there's no need to do it again and again.
Traveling across the same area again and again has been part of Zelda since the start. Fast travel aswell. We see it with the whistle in LoZ, then the flute, which calls the bird that takes you places in ALttP,

My opinion is this (as it seems that I have been attacked for it although I haven't even stated it). I personally did not like traveling in Windwaker. The idea however, that you needed to use something to get around on the massive overworld was there, except it was a big empty ocean. I think this kind of took away from the exploration part of the overworld. We couldn't really explore things while traveling to a different area. This killed it for me. Think about a massive over world that's extremely detailed and full of hidden routes and areas.

As for the train, I feel the system is a little bit better. Shorter trips to get to stops, more stops, more reasons to get to different areas quickly. All while being set the one route or even one or two other ways to get their via the tracks. Which then makes its feel confined and less open.

Ultimately, I would like to see a much larger overworld with every bit of it being fully explorable while still going to different areas. Kind of reminds me of playing Link's Awakening back in the day on my old Gameboy and thinking it was awesome that the map of the over world was mapped out into squares and each square was a an explorable area. This on a much grander scale would be awesome, without a transition from area to area of course, seamless continuation.

Even Batman uses the Batmobile to get around Gotham and back to the Batcave.

I actually liked WW's King of Red Lions more than the stupid train in ST. The boat gave you the freedom do go wherever you wanted to go. Of course, there were lots of water without anything to explore, but that occasionally, and luckily found island was worth the effort. Besides, full control over the King of Red Lions was AWESOME. Controlling the speed on that fucking train was annoying. Being unable to just step out of the train when those fucking ghost trains come in your direction is frustrating.

About fast travel, I'm extremely against it. Using FF makes me feel like I'm cheating the game, you could, having 1 point of health, go wherever you want in the world map, and that's totally unreal.

I used to drink alcohol fairly often. Never to the point of it being a problem, but like 2-3 beers with dinner each night, or a few cocktails or glasses of Scotch or something. Started smoking/vaping weed a lot a few years back which killed 90% of my interest in booze. Now I stopped smoking/vaping weed as much and just deal with life the boring way most of the time

Spoke to Tom Fulp the other day, if he can find his old Newgrounds site content like the mini Flash animations from the 2000's that played on the portal.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
So far no response, but he did say that he'll find them. Wayback Machine doesn't have em.

@SylverReZ, atleast the 1999 versión of pico's school is avaliable (the difference between it, the 2006 versión and the 2016 versión is that the speed of the game depends of the speed of your computer and that it had the og soundtrack)
