Launching today is Thymesia, a punishing action-RPG from developer OverBorder Studio. For the occasion, a launch trailer was aired:

Combining fast paced combat with an intricate plague weapon system, Thymesia challenges players to take on a series of gruesome and unforgiving enemies. As Corvus, they must master the use of plague weapons - devastating powers reived from the diseased denizens that stalk the Kingdom's streets – combing fearsome attacks, perfect deflecting, and agile dodging in order to overcome the punishing challenges that await, saving those that remain from a fate worse than death.

Thymesia's key features include:

• Weaponising diseases: Seize diseases from enemies and wield them as deadly weapons
• Fight Your Way: Upgrade and modify Corvus’ basic movements and plague weapons to devastating effect
• A dark and deadly world: With a sinister and gloomy backdrop, Thymesia oozes character through its environments and setting
• Unforgiving enemies: Corrupted by the plague, and mutated into monsters, enemies are twisted and incredibly hostile, challenging players at every turn

Woah the trailer is really slick, but unfortunately reviews so far are not great. I figure something must be lacking when they're trying to go for this level of presentation with a roughly $20 game.

I thought the demo from 3 months back was incredibly rough, but a couple friends who I talked to say the finished game is much better. I guess I'll see for myself whenever I get around to it.

Looks great. Gives me that Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver vibe. Let's hope it's not just another Dark-Elden-Souls-Borne clone, I'm getting really sick of those.
