Since Christmas is around the corner I was thinking about getting an EZ FLASH OMEGA/Definitive edition, when I looked it up online I found a seller that sold around 400 of them and most comments on the order is that it took time to arrive but came fine, however, they also added that it stopped working after a week or month after receiving it, so can I know is this is a normal thing or if the seller I found is selling a knock-off replica?

I suggest getting a different cart than the ez flash one. Even after updates mine still randomly erases all of my save files. (I wait more than a minute before powering off)

They do offer "endorsed" sellers on their website...but be careful because some of them are known to take ages to ship your product(if at all) and wont do anything until you call them out

tldr save yourself the headache and go with someone else

I bought one (Omega, not DE) from Amazon (or a seller on Amazon?) a couple of months ago and it came fast and works well. Nothing randomly erased, do have to wait before turning off after saving, but that's a known thing.

can you elaborate on the waiting before turning off after saving? I haven't heard about that before and I haven't heard about anything similar to that before so if there are more stuff like that I'd need to know please do tell me

I had that issue with the original one, the save system is just trash, if the battery on your console is low (Not even red light low) the cartridge won't get enough power to transfer the save to the SD card properly and it corrupts the save, sometimes it knackers the whole card and you have to reformat. It can't keep a save on the cartridge without power, so it scans to see if a save has been made then backs it up to the SD card while it's running, this is why you have to "wait 5 seconds" to give it time to copy, and why it corrupts so easily.

The DE on the other hand has been perfect, it uses the kind of save system the original should have had in the first place, it works like a regular cartridge save and will keep without power, you just back it up on bootup.

If you're getting one get the DE, originals save system will mess up at some point and it's not always user error, it's a legitimate power issue with the design of the cart.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
What's really cool about Pi's tho is you can have multiple SD cards with different OS on each SD card and change from say a gaming machine to a full fledged pc if wanted
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Plus all bios are set up and usually includes at least 128gbs or 64
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah but if your main goal is just to play n64 and GameCube you can save about $50 and have the portability option

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
True, but on 2 monitors at 4k. Its just want you want really, to each they own.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
For a kids aspect Anbernic would be the better option they'd probably melt over the price on a good 4k display

For that texasroo guy, I'd recommend the Spell and speak as his first system.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
So they buy a pi5 kit for about $150 and say a 28" 4k display probably looking around $400 total
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They'll be getting in the territory of portable Pcs anyway

Again you get what you pay for, its like buying a S series for $300 but its only 1440p native, if you want true 4k, gotta get the X model for $500. But yea you right, when moms buying it anyways, you gotta stay cheap.
