Announced today alongside the final character reveal for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was that Kingdom Hearts is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Three titles will be available, letting you catch up on all the series lore: Kingdom Hearts I.5+II.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts II.8, and Kingdom Hearts III. These games will utilize cloud streaming to be playable on the Switch, rather than be straight up ports to the console. No release date was given.

They coulda made a killing releasing each game on their own one at a time but I guess the easy route covers the whole thing.
Wonder how long the servers will last.

serious square enix doesnt want to port a game from the ps2 and ps3 era and they just make them clould streaming games... seriously worst thing ever, and KH is a game that the switch audience would buy alot for sure... seriously i dont get square at all.

I heard it's due to how they made them in Unreal Engine or something. Basically the way they're made is way too intensive for the Switch even though it looks simple, and they can't be bothered to do it all again.

they have the ps3 versions of the collections to port... if they run on ps3 they can run on switch just fine, they dont need to port the ps4 rematers of remasters or whatever you wanna call it, seriously cloud stuff on the switch shouldnt even be allowed, imagine paying for the game and in 1 year they discontinue the server and your money went out of the window and you cant even play the game you paid for lol.

Man I really think cloud gaming could take off on the Switch if Nintendo had a unified platform for it. Nintendo Cloud Arcade or something, where you could buy universal credits to be used on any game, in oppose to buying time to play one specific game.

I'd actually be really interested in something like that.

The funny thing is that this is essentially what PS Now is yet everyone disparages it at every opportunity.

Either way. Any kind of game streaming is inherently bad and a bad move. I will never pay for the opportunity to rent what amounts to a VP9 stream just to have it go away someday.

For a "on the go and at home console" (not a direct quote, duh), this is quite a purchase for something you quite literally, will only be able to play at home. Does not seem worthwhile at all if like to bring your switch out a lot or at all. Like in any case, if the game doesn't have online multiplayer, it should always be able to play offline. In this case it is not DRM but the actual game not even running on the hardware.

I won't even bother talking about how useless this could be for people with bad internet, or how good the cloud service would even be...

When SE come up to N with the "streaming" idea they allowed it to happen - which probably just an attempt to get a quick buck from people without doing much effort- pushing the port till later. If they were like : "No way! Come back when you actually have the game port in hand.. " instead it went like this :"Sure no prob, as long as we get money from this.."

Hell no. Why should I pay money for something I can't even download to an SD card or SSD only to have it disappear? I'd rather get Sonic Colors on Switch than pay for glorified Netflix gaming.

This is the same dumbass company who put their FF Pixel Remastered games on PC/Android and not consoles. Putting a game on a streaming server is such laziness.

If this tanks, and people wouldn't go with it (specially in JP, Cloud Streaming is still a new concept there and i don't think they care for it now), they'll come to their senses and port them because they don't have any other choice.

Because they're being a bunch of xenophobic, conceited dicks, that's why. I really hope more people pirate SE's games, removing DRM, downloading their old ISO and ROM images just so they don't make money.
