maybe it's not input lag it's overall display lag, the machine isn't receiving video stream fast enough and all
It'd be a hilarious mess to have everyone in a competitive FPS match play in this setting.. Not gonna lie.

Google has it's own internet service that it's trying to role out called fiber that might help with the internet structure. Obviously they aren't catering to third world countries. I was part of the Google stream project and although I hate assassin's Creed I found that it played the game better then one's I had on my hard drive.

This isn't new news. We've known about fiber for years. They are growing so slow that Google Fiber isn't even a thing anymore pretty much.

Unless you're used to playing at 50+ms of input latency? I'm calling BS. Tried every available form of game streaming, there is ALWAYS latency.
I am playing on a 1ms latency screen, a wireless mouse and a 30mo/s fiber connection. Even FPS are no problem. Sure I won't play any competitive game on it but this is not the purpose of a remote gaming PC.

What you're describing is exactly what input lag is (in this context)
But the game wouldn't be slower. It would just appear to respond later.

Thank you science side of GBAtemp.

Wouldn't the science joke be the server is travelling near the speed of light away from the user?

On the subject of pings, I just checked and my own connection seems to have a pretty consistent ping to Google's DNS server (8.8.8.8) of ~16ms. Google.com is worse with a range of 14.1ms to 18.9ms, but 8 of them are below the ~16.6ms necessary for 60 fps play*. I'd imagine a real game streaming engine is closer to the Google.com example, and so I wouldn't say streaming is absolutely impossible--I'm actually surprised that I'm saying that, but what little evidence I have indicates it seems possible given I'm not in a particularly populous State nor really near a populous city.

Having said all that, I'm against game streaming. It's bad enough how many game companies obfuscate the games you buy. Making everything renting just makes things worse. It'd also mean practically more expensive games since the incentive to have sales of any sort basically disappears.

* Presuming the engine on the other end can render a frame in ~0.0ms; if it's a lot longer, then it'd be probably closer to 30fps consistent or just having effectively one frame of lag built into the engine and then 60fps.

Oooh...I see what you did, there! You are deliberately not saying "this is so slow", by making a statement that reflects this very notion. As such, you are not being slow...you are actually living up to the intended pun of the cartoon! That's awesome! B-)

...unless you really don't get it, obviously. In that case, please ignore my statement.

We are not worthy of such wisdom.

@BigOnYa, why do people hate seasons 20 and 23 of south park?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I don't know. People hate and down vote everything nowdays. I see it especially on gamestores, like every game has a negative rating, even though they are good games.

With south park, they speak the truth, whether people like it or not, then peeps get they're panties in a bunch.

1st video- That's why I hate ordering stuff online, if I can just go pick it up myself nearby. Wal-Mart online did that to me years ago, sent wrong item, I went to Wal-Mart by me to return, but noo, I had to mail it back and wait.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
99% of the time ordering online I have had flawless experiences, only time something was messed up, I ordered a big TV from Amazon and it came smashed the box was literally like some one jumped up and down on it, didn't even open it, contacted Amazon sent them pictures, they made me open it and take more pictures, free label to return it and they sent another. So it was relatively painless. But still annoying.
