SysDVR - Stream gameplay directly to a pc

SysDVR
Stream/record gameplay to a PC via USB or network.

Update: Version 5.0 has been released with low latency streaming, be sure to check it out on github.

This is an experimental sysmodule that allows capturing the running game output on a pc.
As this uses switch's built-in game recording feature it has the same limitations: 720p@30fps and only works on the games that enable it, but by sending the video to another device there's no time limit to the recording.

There are two modes: USB and Network, both work fine but USB is slightly better, at least compared to wifi, didn't try with a LAN adapter.
Players like mpv or vlc can play the stream directly so you can use any screen recording applications but it's also possible to write the stream directly to a file.
To use the USB version you need the UsbStream program you'll find on the github page, it's built using .NET 5 and works on both windows and linux, haven't tried mac but in theory it should work too.

You can see it in action in the two teasers i posted while working on it:

As you can see it's not meant for remote play, but it can work as a basic capture card, audio output is uncompressed so it can be useful for ripping OSTs .

Is there anything like this but with controller support? I want to use my controller that's on PC on Switch, so I don't have to switch (pun) back and forth.

After like one year I finally downloaded this and I got it to work. Nice that it has a builtin player. If I’m correct all I have to do is just download a screen recorder. Unless this is actually recording my gameplay somewhere on my computer. I can’t believe it took me like a year just to try this out. On the bright side I guess, there’s a lot less bugs from the first version of SysDVR.

It crash my switch with an Atmosphere fatal error code as soon the emunand is loaded.
5.2 was working fine.

For me it works without any problem, my default setting is off, and I only enable streaming when I use it with my sysDVR-Overlay.
Do you have any other system modules installed? Sometimes they can interfere in weird ways, when there are to many, or when some of them are not fully compatible.
You could also try to just delete the config on your sd-card.

So anyone using this in combination with dvr patches for Smash? Does it cause crashes or oddities?

Is my switch charging over USB when i use sysdvr on my Dell Latitude Laptop?

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

also @BigOnYa im making some progress on my gdevelop project, implemented various mechanics

They went all in on streaming, should have been more of a hybrid approach

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
