OK, This one has me a bit stumped.

I Got a used DSLite from a friend that was broken and have since fixed it up, but there is one thing bugging the crap out of me.

The D-Pad sticks!

I've given the actual button a good clean (3 times) and that is fine but the rubber conductive pad itself is at fault here it seems to stick so depending on orientation of the conductive pad, if I am say... holding down then press up you hear a sticky snap where it comes unstuck.

I have tried to clean the conductive pad a few times with Q-tips and Window cleaner but it always re-appears after an hour or so.

I Have ordered a fresh set of pads but am wondering does anyone know a way to clean this sucker good at least until the new one arrives from China?

I don't think you'll find any fix for it, since the rubber conductive pad is the problem.

I also have problems with the D-Pad in my DS lite, but since I have a DS, a DSi and a 3DS, I just don't use it.

I personally prefer the original DS' D-Pad over the one in the 3DS or the DS lite.

The DSi pad is just ok.

dead easy to fix, i've fixed many joypads with connection problems. Open it up (carefully, it's easy to kill a DS when opening it, those ribbon cables are fragile) take some double sided tape and stick a small piece of kitchen foil to the conductive pard of the pad. This will take the place of the conductive part, and wont stick :)

The conducting is fine its the stickyness on the other side that was the problem :P

you've just fixed the Lite your friend assumed to be broken/unrepairable? Don't tell him that! haha

Could your help me with this doubt? Is the Touch Screen hard to put where is should be when you're reassembling the portable? The mic, etc?

Thanks mate :)

Mic only goes in one spot. Routing the cable is a pain in the ass though.

The touchscreen - if you didn't take yours off (to replace the digitizer) it all stays together as one unit (the digitizer and LCD). If you DID replace the digitizer. I found it's easiest to set the digitizer in (with the protective film still on the back/inner side), flip it over, lay the border on top, flip it back over, then align the lcd screen onto it.

I want to replace the rubber conductives of the L R buttons. The L one seems to every now and then fail me, which is annoying. I once thought the SNES had the worst LR buttons, but then i met the DS Lite. Is this a general opinion? LoL

Even the position of the Start Select buttons is bad. I dare one of you pressing L+R+Start+Select at first try.

The shoulders don't use rubber contacts, they're actual switches. You'll need to buy and replace the switches, which is a pain...

actually if there the same switches as the SP you can take the cap off the switch and give it a blast of compressed air then put the rubber cap back on
