Chat bot suggested I start here, so here I am!
Just wanted to share my appreciation for gbatemp and all its members. I started my modding journey when I was dissatisfied with my steam decks emulation of the switch. Since then I've done 5 switches. Interestingly enough, I just did my first picofly on a v2 and it has been the first one that booted first try! I've been super proud of that. The other 4 I had to troubleshoot and was able to do it with the help of this forum through duckduckgo, lol.
It has been definitely been a challenging journey more specifically the microsolder aspect. I have a condition called essential tremors, so the more I focus, and or less relaxed I am the more my hands shake. Which made the picofly install the most challenging yet, so I was proud of that install. Things that made it less stressful was putting down uv solder mask on all the components that surrounded my target and just being really patient. As challenging as it was for me, I don't think the cost savings is worth the additional time it took me to accomplish it. The install time for me was nearly double compared to the ribbon kits. Especially now that I've been back to work and this is a side hobby for me.
Anyways, thanks all!
