There's potential for an old retro game to finally see a release in the west, if a recent trademark is anything to go by. Square Enix has just filed a trademark for their 1994 Super Nintendo JRPG Live A Live, in Australia. The game was directed and written by Takashi Tokita, known for his work on Final Fantasy IV, Parasite Eve, and Chrono Trigger, though it was never localized or released outside of Japan. This makes the trademark application all the more interesting, as it was done in English, hinting at the possibility of an official translation being in the works at Square Enix. It wouldn't be the first time the company has gone back and re-released an old Super Nintendo era RPG and added English text, as they did with Seiken Densetsu 3/Trials of Mana, released through the Collection of Mana in 2019. Currently, Live A Live is playable in English thanks to a complete fan-translation patch, courtesy of Aeon Genesis.

There do exist achievements in RetroArch. I can't say for sure if Final Fantasy Tactics would have any, but it might be worth looking into!

While it would be cool to see a new one, I'd rather it be in the spirit of Trigger as opposed to Chrono Cross where, the last thing I remember is the ending being some weird, almost MGS2-level of philosophical nonsense followed by an ending that didn't really satisfy.
